Netflix, Love Film Instant etc

We have Netflix and really like it. I'm not that worried about watching the latest films but series like Breaking Bad, Arrested Development and loads of documentaries etc. make it well worth the £6/month imho. Haven't tried LoveFilm for comparison but judging by the title, I doubt it would be for me anyway. :)

Have both but going to cancel Lovefilm. Netflix is great for TV series. Currently working through Lost then probably start Breaking Bad or Dexter. Shows like Always Sunny in Philadelphia give a wee comedy fix and I really enjoy Sponge Bob Square Pants for those times I want to feel young :). Netflix also allows two devices to stream at the same time so I let my friend have my details and he lets me borrow his car from time to time in return! Now that's cheap car rental.

Streaming quality is amazing on my 40" TV via my Xbox. Somewhere between DVD and Bluray. Closer to Bluray though. But then I do have average downloads speeds in the region of 25mb which helps a lot.

For films neither service is really any good. You can get some classics etc but for newer films they both are a bit pathetic. The options to buy HD films via Xbox is handy if you want a film to keep but Sky Go is my go to platform for streaming films. Decent selection, regular updates and good quality streaming.

Dexter is an excellent show, Sons of Anarchy is even better, Breaking Bad is good as well but would get 3rd place after the other 2.

LoveFilm updates more often regards movies but Netflix is better for kids and series. Now Aztecs link has opened the USA Netflix I think I might just cancel Lovefilm also.

I have lovefilm as the boys use it for games, I also use the gf's netflix and it is far superior for the online stuff!

never watched Dexter but about to embark from series 1.... lots to watch :D

I'd say Netflix is better for Tv series and documentaries, also it is better for more obscure independant films etc.

I also found i can stream in full HD even when using a tethered iphone for my internet connection whereas i couldn't with Lovefilm.

Just tried the mediahint extension on Firefox and it works like a charm. Streaming is not quite as smooth as with Netflix UK but that's a minor issue. Great find. :)

Using Netflix on Apple TV with the built in app, and www.unblock-us.com to open up US and Canadian netflix content.
Works excellently.
US has the best TV series.
Canada has the best and most recent movie selection.
UK is the poor relation but does have some stuff, like later series of Californication, that neither US or Canada have.

Unblock-US is a paid for service, but at £4 a month (ish... depending on exchange rate), it is well worth it and has caused me to hang on to my netflix subscription and put off re-signing up with Sky.
