I'm considering buying an entire new bag of clubs really but for me the Irons are most important. Has anyone got any advice/experiences with graphite iron shafts? Pro at a local club swears by them, but they don't seem too popular on the courses. Any help is appreciated as im still just getting into the swing of things :D

Depends on a lot of things. A lot of players at my club have graphites. I've had them too and to be honest apart from higher ball flight there wasn't much to choose although I prefer steel. I would suggest speaking to your pro and ask him why he is recommending them(apart from them being more expensive). There may be a good reason why he wants you to have them (swing speed, age etc)

I currently have Taylormade RAC OS Irons but as my father is no longer able to play he's passing on his unused set of the next ones up from the RAC OS Irons (he upgraded from the RAC irons to whatever would have been next at the time, Burners i think) I just feel the irons are too heavy and unforgiving. My father has told me if i don't fancy these irons he's got sitting unused then just to sell them and sort myself out from there. I'm 19 and i've never used a trackman yet.

Not a lot wrong with RAC OS - nor Burners.

It used to be that graphite shafts were lighter, so could be (0.5") longer and hit longer too. 'Problem' was that what seemed like the same strike could be 10yds too long or too short! Steel was much more 'consistent'.

Differences have reduced significantly in recent years - Superlight steel and more consistent graphite.

Best thing is to check things out with pro - take your current clubs as calibration - and determine what is best performance/value option FOR YOU!
