My game is all over the place at the moment, I don't seem to have any idea how to swing a club. Somedays it works; shot 75 to win a comp at my home club on Sunday. Somedays it doesn't; shot 99 in the Scottish (close) am today at longniddry. Embarrassing doesn't quite cover it.... I actually shed a couple of tears out there. Very tough conditions, some bad breaks and a course of length and character unlike what I'm used to but mostly it was just bad play. I was very relieved just to sneak under 100 at the end.

Some hugely impressive scores by proper golfers considering the gales!

Have to go back for round two tomorrow (will be early tee time for me lol) and am really dreading it. Considered withdrawing but don't want to quit and surely I can't be that bad again..... can I? Yeah, I could probably be worse... :o

Don't give up :)

You're more than capable of shooting a really good score tomorrow and if it's tough again out there, those that shot in the 70's could easily shoot high 80's tomorrow!

If nothing else, a good score tomorrow will be enjoyable, will get you a decent cut and will prove some proper bouncebackability

virtual hug incoming

going through similar last week i managed to shoot 75 then 92 on consecutive days last week. Game can get you down sometimes, somehow you have to focus on your ability and not all the other stuff - seems so much easier telling someone else lol

Many virtual hugs coming your way and you will go tomorrow and you will score and play well. Try to trust your swing even though it's testing you at the moment and remember it isn't all over the place and isn't dramatically changing from shot to shot or round to round rather than just something small knocking you slightly out of kilter.

If all else fails and your head is getting too full of technical thoughts and doubts then just use the "back/hit" method to quiet and calm your mind.

Plus - I know you feel a twonk BUT you know you're a good golfer and no one is thinking any different nor thinking you're a twonk!

Huge hug ... Just noticed the 7 point zero and you've been cut twice in the last week, sneaky

Man up and get on with it you big wet blanket!!! You won on Sunday thats all that you need to remember!! Most guys would only dream of shooting 75!! Sort yourself out, have a pint, clear your head and push on!! :)

Thanks folks... Will just go out and try to enjoy it tomorrow... Should be ok!

Lol, it's a fair point.... Currently drowning my sorrows with a few beers and a big bag of fruit pastilles!

Manning up!

Virtual man hug heading your way!
Get straight back on that horse ................... and kick it.
Remember, there are many out there, me included, who are unable to play at all, either temporarily or permanently.
Go out there and enjoy it, whether you play well or not,
BUT DO NOT PLAY UNTIL YOU'VE LISTENED TO THIS,
it always humbles me ;

You can get a real hug in two weeks as many as you want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

;)

(PS get your arse in gear by then!)

You can't complain about playing bad golf unless you do it in PERFECT conditions.

Other than that there's loads of reasons why you might have some 'streaky' scoring. We all like to tinker with our swings, and some days you have it and some days you simply don't. No big deal.... we'd ALL have quit if shooting 15 shots over our h/cap was a measure of success.

Moaning faced wumin, gie yirsel a good shake ;)

Other than that, get out there tomorrow and play like you can and normally do.

Best of luck pal

As a repressed 64 year old Englishman I don't do hugs but would you settle for a reassuring arm round the shoulder sort of thing?

I'm certain that tomorrow will be better for you, after all you know you are a decent player, and if it isn't ; so what!

Don't worry what anyone else is thinking, they are all likely to be too focussed on their own game to be concerned with your troubles today.
However, tomorrow when you shoot low is another story.

You are going to feel so good tomorrow evening when you tell us how well you played!!

Best of luck and look forward to tomorrow, it's a nice chance to get back on the horse and so soon. Would have been horrid to wait a week.
