I went up to the course this morning, I was reserve for a team match but wasn't needed, so I went out on my own. Half the greens were being mowed so temporary greens were in place. I know the work is necessary but it was not too helpful for my practice round sadly.

I must admit I would have thought that the work would have been done either before or after the team match.

Never come across that before. Our greenstaff cut greens early morning and do other cutting as play progresses, with a request to golfers to be aware of greenstaff when playing a hole on which they are working.

Must admit most golfers I know are happy to see the green staff out there busy trying to make the course as good as possible, especially with the unusual weather we have had lately....

Same here.
They cut the greens first thing in the morning ahead of the field.
Occasionally they will be spraying greens while we play but that only means a couple of minutes wait.

Only time we have temporary greens is for hollow tining and that is purely while they work on that one green.
