#nationalrepairyourdivotday

Its definitely a serious subject , however at our place, the crows turn over any divots looking for grubs, even divots that have been stamped down,

So while I admire the thought, its not always the golfers fault

Thanks for the sensible feedback. This verifies the need for mobile Sand Seed Mix 'stations' introduced by clubs along fairways. Then seed/sand mix can be added as well as stamping them down which would help.

Great to see proper golfers joining in. IMHO divot stations along fairways has to be
the way forward, our lazy culture wouldn't
want to be carrying seed mix on their round unless
on a buggy.

dear dear! lighten up fella............last time I looked we were all proper golfers here...whatever that is

All Golfers have an obligation to encourage and educate others when they see them. Nomadic,Guest golfers are by no means the sole cause of disrespecting courses. Have seen enough ignorant members not bothering and heard enough stories from Green Staff where courses have been meticulously prepared for Club Comps and then when they come in the next day Greens are full of Pitchmarks and Fairways ripped to shreds. Even had Divots out of Greens!

I was never taught about repairing Pitchmarks or Divots when I first started to play, but seeing a notice at every course I played stating ''Please Repair Divots & Pitchmarks'' made me ask and find out. There can be no excuse unless players cannot read.

From your comments, You most probably are one of those who doesnt care too much, but the first to complain when a course is not in top condition and in recovery mode. Not all Golfers are proper Golfers- Lazy, Ignorant players are not and any who witness friends they play with not respecting courses, are just as bad if they turn a blind eye. Things need to change to improve the Golfing culture in this Country.

Same problem with crows around my place. They tend to lift divots but it can be forgiven because the divot is sitting beside it's location. It's the big divots sitting 10 yards away that had no attempt to be replaced that rile me. I will always replace any significant divot that I can. Sometime not possible with some of "exploding" divots which break up into loads of little bits although those don't tend to be overly deep.

I do like to use divot repair bag where they are available, they at least help protect the area and encourage regrowth.

Pitchmarks, I generally make a point of finding mine to repair it because it gives a good indication of what the ball is doing when it hits the green and gives an idea of receptiveness. Will usually try and repair those immediately around me as well. I also sometimes tap down spike marks when leaving the green if necessary.

If only everyone was like us!

How to win friends and influence people...

You'll not get much support if you rub people up the wrong way, lighten up a bit. ;)

WHAT!!!!! Seriously! That's just crazy. I bet you would if it was on your putting line and you had to hole out to win board comp!

I play golf to make pitchmarks not repair them!!

Thats part of the reason why Bobby Jones never turned pro as he hated playing in the last groups of a big comp when the greens were covered in pitchmarks. I'm just upholding the traditions of our great game.

Still don't agree with repairing pitchmarks. Divots, yes but pitchmarks are just rub of the green and natural wear and tear.

:whoo:

There's always one that thinks they are funny
suppose your one of those who's wife cleans their
clubs aswell! Or one of those that doesn't bother to repair
either.
. That would be homer !! swinger keeps a French exchange student under the stairs for such trivial jobs. Perks of being a tour pro.

Repairing pitch marks and divots are like slow play, everyone moans about it, no one admits to (not) doing it.

However, you go round after the seniors roll up at our place, you'll encounter both.

You can tell it's the seniors, because of the skiddy nature of their pitchmarks!!

On the flip side, you don't really take a divot with a 9 wood.

Oh dear.......again! someone with a humour labotomy!

Think we all 'get it'. Pretty sure we're all responsible golfers here, hence we're here!!

Maybe change your tone and attitude a tad without the personal unprovoked insults!

Thinking about it - I've never seen me hit a 9 wood either.........what is it, about 24 degrees..?

something like that, a fella I played with recently had a persimmon one...deadly from 120 yards !! pitchmarks like craters, the OP would have been furious!!

I get the feeling this part has some kind of double meaning but I can't quite put my finger on it.

 it's an age thing,

In your experience what causes the bigger pitchmark, the boomross or the blade??

Been known to have a few skidders myself with the longer blades but they generally checked up pretty quick. These hybird things come in from such a height and from so far I'm looking forward to seeing how annoyed the groups behind me get over the winter!

Boomross baby.

Boomross baby.

I don't want you to incur the wrath of upstanding fella's like the OP, especially now you're a bit of a celeb and there to be shot at.

'Tour Pro Leaves Pitch Mark Shocker':o

with that in mind I'll pick you up a Royal Iford Bridge pitch mark repairer.....my treat

on a connected note, these issues that damage our courses can't be ignored. #nationalrepairyourdivotday is only that start, I'm firmly behind #internationalfillinananimalscrapetuesday next month ...12th Nov put it in your diary:cheers:

Blimey, you need to do some serious PR lessons if you're going to continue to promote your campaigns.

If you read through the forum you'll find not repairing divots and pitch marks is high on the list of things that annoy this forum on the course so you probably need to relax a bit. You're preaching to the converted over here. Why make it a Wednesday though, wouldn't a Saturday or Sunday or both be a better day?
