I was out for a quick round last night and this question popped up by one of my mate's. We agreed on most of the course's but 1 or 2 were up for debate. Here are my top 5 in no real order

1. St Andrew's(prob going to be everybodys no.1)
2. Agusta national.
3. Pebble Beach.
4. Old Head Of Kinsale
5. Troon.

What would your Top 5 be???

In no particular order:

Old Course
Troon
Augusta National
Pebble Beach
Carnoustie.

Carnoustie was the course that was up for debate, 3 of us thought the Old Head would be more popular then it as the Yanks love to play it. But then again we are from Ireland so it might only be popular over here and not worldwide.

Old Course
Augusta National
Brabazon (due to number of Ryder Cups hosted)
Turnberry Ailsa (77 Open - Nicklaus and Watson's 'Duel in the Sun'; and 2009 Open when Watson went close)
Then I am torn between either Muirfield, Wentworth or Royal Melbourne.

Now if this was about the best known course on the forum, then Lydd would come in at No.1!!!

Oh crap, I forgot about Turnberry and Wentworth. I'll swap out Troon and Carnoustie for those two! I think my first selection was clouded by the original post. It made my mind go blank!

Without Reading all the other answers and in no particular order...

St Andrews
Pebble Beach
Sawgrass
Augusta (or That one with the flowers as my missus calls it)
Troon

St Andrews
Carnoustie
Royal Melbourne
Royal County Down
Turnberry

Dont see the fascination of Sawgrass and Wentworth i'm afraid.

1. Augusta
2. St Andrews Old
3. Pebble Beach
4. Turnberry
5. Wentworth

All my my mates who dont play golf would probably only have heard of possible Augusta and The Old Course along with Wolf Creek. (the one from the Tiger Woods game!!)
