Well with fathers day approaching i thought I would see what naff stuff we've had in the past! Only the other weekend my mother in law gave me golf tiddley winks - a game of fun and dexterity, I dont think so! Why is it friends and family see anything that mentions golf and think ooohh so so and would love that! Really would I?

Over to you guys

As soon as I took up the game I specifically asked for no naff golf related gifts. That lasted the first birthday and xmas at which point it was forgotten.

I got bought a metal water bottle, which to make it golf related the designers had brilliantly attached a claw ball holder to the cap. Decent bottle made to look rediculous with or without a ball in the holder.

I always used to get miffed when my dear old mum bought me golf balls - I play Titleist, she always bought me Top Flite, as she could only ever remember the name began with "T".

The answer to my naff gift problem has been the godsend that is the Amazon wish list. With a bit of training I have broken my relatives of the habit of buying every piece of junk with a picture of a golf ball on it. There is no effort on their part, they just need to log on to Amazon, tick a box and pay whilst all I have to do is keep it up to date and I get something I will actually use. I recommend this to anyone with non golfing relatives.

Got bought a small round spirit level for golf greens last Xmas! This was from the wife of a friend who used to play golf as a 2 handicapper :D
His face was a picture when I opened it as he didn't have a clue!
Mind, it's in my bag, and gets the odd laugh when I pull it out in friendlies.

I've got the wife and the relatives well trained. Mother dearest usually gives me money and so I'm free to get whatever I like (usually golf related anyway) and the in-laws are told to steer clear of QVC and the internet. They are going out to Florida next week with HID's sister and so I've ordered two decent looking adidas golf shirts (not available in the UK) which have been shipped to the sister in law (shes bought one and the mother/father in law the other) and which they will bring back to the UK with them. Happy days.

Yeah, I've had 'em.

Golf ball, tee and marker sets. Golf multi tool.

Best one was a gift from my youngest. "Toilet time golf" A putting game you can play whilst on the bog!!!
A small cloth green with a flag, plastic putter and plastic golf ball. Priceless!!!

Family is trained into buying non golf gifts. Happy!
