Ok this is it. I've just got my first club membership and I'm really chuffed about it. Some forum users might have noticed a post saying how bad a round I had last sunday and I've never felt that crap about a game in my life.

After some positive comments on the forum and a gentle push from Satty I have signed up. This is going to help in more than one way. As I'm stil 28 I get an intermediate rate of £295 at Garesfied and at my current rate of 2-3 games per month I'd save a packet. That coupled with 8 free games using the Tyne Valley Alliance card at various courses means I wont get bored.

So if anyone is in the area and fancies a game feel free to give me a shout.

I think golf is becoming very youthist. All these great deals for under 30's, but what about the old boys like Leftie that have to pay full whack !

I think it sucks that over 30's and up dont get discount, I am 39 with 3 teenagers = more skint than ever, so not fair

I appreciate the comments about youngsters getting discounts and how they stop at 30 but do think it is in the interest of golf.

It allows youngsters to be able to afford golf and get into the sport rather than giving up before they start as they cant afford it. If it wasn't for the discounts then the number of golfers would eventually diminish over coming years leaving only the middle classes and above to play.
