MyEG vs ig conundrum.

I didn't see that in the Rules, but just skimmed them.

Sounds absurd. Going back to my example, I Pre Registered for my weeks golf in France, so handicap sec knew my intention. Not sure why it would be necessary to contact him every single morning to pre register.

I know the Apps require it on day, but just assumed that was a logistical reason on how they work

The governing bodies keep going on about people putting in all their scores then have barriers up to stop that and whs police alarms goes off

if your committee is fine with you telling them you are putting cards in on each day then providing evidence then no one should complain

It’s how we did it when we couldn’t use the App at Celtic Manor

Rule says “manually” doesn’t it 👍

So a manual chat or what’s app I’m putting a card in works 👍
As long as it is a manner prescribed by the club/committee.

The rule is quite clear and has been in place since November 2020.

Slightly concerning that this appears to be news.

It also shouldn't take 6 weeks for such scores to find their way onto the system, during which time multiple competitions have been played (presumably without reporting these missing scores to the committee in charge of them).

Our players notify me in advance of their intentions. They then email or WhatsApp me with their scores, which I enter via Handicapmaster.
This is really good of you as there are a lot of us who like our special away days on our record.

Among other things, registration on the day is needed to confirm that you are actually playing and wish to submit a score, and that the course is acceptable for handicapping - all things that cannot be done in advance.

Messaging your committee prior to play is less of a faff than using the app. Not sure why anyone would make an issue of it.

Interesting that one. It appears to conflict with the EG view that rolls ups / swindles are competitions and that scores from such should go on players records. I appreciate that players could /should register individually when playing in such but that would often not happen. Does that mean that those that did not register pre playing could not have the score entered?

That was just a small snippet. The relevant guidance spans two sections and about a dozen paragraphs. Among other things it states:
"WHS requires that rounds in ‘organized competitions’ in an acceptable format are considered to have been pre-registered." This is the bit that describes regular organised roll-up and society comps.

I am aware of that section but it really does depend on the interpretation of 'organised'. Is a group of mates getting together and deciding before they go out to have a kitty organised.

6 weeks......I have 20 cards in by then.

Hope nobody reports my handicap sec to England Golf for ignoring the rules. Bad man.

Or.

You could pre register a week in advance. And, if on the day, the course isn't Acceptable, just inform your handicap sec on the day you will no longer be submitting a score. If the rules had allowed it.

Still seems a flaff to insist on pre registration on the day. I can pre register at 12.01 am, but I must not pre register 2 mins before :ROFLMAO:
