Club Championship yesterday at Bellshill, in the lashing rain! Posted a 72 round 1, joint leader! Was +4 after 12 round 2, and eagled 13! I then proceeded to have a McIlroy esque collapse and play the last 5 holes in 6 over to lose by 2! Gutted doesn't cover it, can anyone recommend a shrink!?

Not a shrink as such, but the Neds we encountered on the 12th (the hole with the great view of Motherwell Stadium!) when we played it, certainly offered us some Bucky and advice! Plenty of shrink-age likely!

It's always difficult to close it out in the rain, as the grips (and you) get progressively wetter you find yourself thinking more about how to keep things dry than the task at hand. Could recommend a much cheaper alternative or two!

At about a fiver each they will probably do you more good than 3 minutes with a therapist. Would £10 even get you 3 minutes?! Fortunately I don't know. There's someone on here who does mind coaching, a seriously underrated part of the game and worth looking into if you feel it's holding you back from the next level (at 4 h/c you obviously have game).

I had exactly the same this saturday.

Stood on the 11th tee 4 over. (I play off 17 but am improving quickly, everyone at the club thinks its a joke I'm off 17 yet I have only been cut once this summer!) Anyway.

4 over, all I had to do was bogey every hole and I'd be well under my handicap. Instead I went triple, triple, bogey, par, triple, double, double, bogey.

I was not happy!

I know what I need to work on though, my putting is in good shape at the moment, only one 2 3 putts in that round - my driving is good, and long (drove to the front edge of our 350 yard par 4 and sunk the eagle putt) - my driving often leaves me with 8/9/Wedge into greens and my problems come from missing the greens with those clubs then not getting up and down.


Time to practise the chipping and short game - shot an 85,88 in our club trophy 2 weeks ago over 36 holes. I know I can break 85, that day I had an 8 on our par 4 18th!

Foxy you must have been drinking the Bucky you can't Fir park from there . You may be getting your courses mixed up, could have been Wishaw GC or Colville park GC they have good views of Fir park and Bucky boys .

Unlucky mate - had our this weekend and learnt a very valuable lesson

If you are organising the whole weekend then you won't play your best golf - had numerous issues due to weather and have received flak ever since on social media ( and it appears in the bar ) because of a choice that was made by myself and the others.

Two 80's - came 11th
