My imagination or the ball?

I tried a different make of ball yesterday.

I can't really say I noticed much difference to my normal ball for most shots, need to play with it a bit more before I form any judgements.

The one thing that I did think was different was that shots with the driver went quite a bit higher than my normally very low efforts.

What do you think, can the ball make a difference to the height on my drives or is it my imagination or coincidence?

I can slice a ProV1 2 fairways right whereas a low spinning ball only goes to the next fairway -

I find a massive amount of difference in some balls. Funny enough I find the really crap ones (Dunnay etc) are really low sponning off the driver - so they go lower and straighter than others - thus I only loose the good balls.

A different ball can really make that much difference can it? I know that from one shot to another I can hit a dead straight but very low flying shot with my driver, to a very high big slice, and that's with the same ball each time. But if a machine were to hit two balls exactly the same, could the ball flight really be vastly different on each?

Are you sure you're not just coming down on the ball a bit steeper and imparting more spin with a higher trajectory? That's happening to me at the moment, with my irons anyway.

That's a nice thing about Titleist c/f sessions. What ball do you use sir, prov1, then we'll use that then. As a result, your clubs are tailored tosuit the ball you play with.
Stuffed if you're a Srixon man though.

if you want a ball that doesn't spin much of the driver but still has nice feel, i can highly recommend the Taylormade Burner TP. I used them most of last season, then tried a few things this year - mostly due to the offers on here - but have now returned to the Burner TP.

I'm quite happy with the balls I've been using. I just tried something different last Sunday which 'seemed' to go higher off my driver, and I just wondered if ball technology can do that. It is advertised (amongst other things) and high launch, low spin off the tee.

I lost it on 18, but still have 2 left so plenty of golf left for the jury to decide.

Posh git. How do you afford those? ;)

I've been saving my paper round money ever since they first advertised them :D

I just fancied trying one, and after minutes of trying to find one in the bushes at my club I decided I was wasting my time, so bought a sleeve of 3 off ebay for about £11.

They're on ebay for £32 ish a dozen so not that different to ProV's unless you get a great deal somewhere (or have a trade account :)).

I'll unleash another one Saturday morning for a 4BBB comp and see how it goes again.

Initial impressions were that there was more 'ping' off the driver and felt softer off the putter. Couldn't tell the difference in mid and short irons. Maybe a touch less spin but hard to tell unless you're playing 2 balls next to each other.

The logo is nicer to line up for putts than the Bridgestone one :)
