My handicap just changed without me even playing. What the hell?

On Tuesday my handicap was 14.7, now it says 15.0. I haven't even played since Sunday??

My third most recent round was a counting round of 85, now they've rounded it down to 84 but it's no longer counting. What on earth??

Who is tampering with my handicap record?? This is not making me dislike this system any less!

One of our guys had something similar this week and he reckons it is because our slope rating has changed on the app
Our slope rating did change but it was weeks ago long before these rounds. Could it be that my last three rounds were entered under the old incorrect rating by mistake, which has now been rectified??

I believe the 14th hole at GD has changed (was par 4, now par 3). Perhaps this alteration has only just become effective on WHS (or has been backdated to 20th May)?

That would explain both the change in differentials and adjusted gross.

This already happened several weeks ago and I have entered cards since then which we were fine. (See the 83 from June 11th has not changed.) There must have been a glitch on the last two/three weeks which has now been fixed. Annoying.

I can understand how the Score Diff could be adjusted but how can your gross score have changed from a round 3 weeks ago?

Check with your club. It's something they have done (either directly or through notification) that will have caused the change.

I'm not sure - there is a 6 rounded down to 5 on a par 3, but I'm sure it should have done that in the first place either way, because it's SI 16 and I wouldn't have had 16 shots on the course regardless.

Perhaps the effective dates for the new ratings (and par) have been corrected on the WHS platform?

Unless it was the 14th hole and set as a par 4 on the system.

Message from the club.....
-------------------------------
We have been notified that some alterations have occurred to players handicaps, without the player playing a round. We have contacted England golf about the issue and they are aware of the situation and will hopefully be giving us some more information shortly. This seems to be a nationwide issue with several other clubs also reporting similar behaviour.

For the time being you MUST assume that your handicap index displayed from England Golf is correct and you MUST use the handicap index that you are currently allocated through the England Golf system, even if you believe it to be wrong.

If you are due to play in a competition over the next week or so I would suggest you check your handicap index just before the competition start time so you know the exact index you are playing off and question it with the organiser if they don't have the right value.

I have personally had my handicap changed yesterday (it has increased from 14.8 to 15.0) without me playing a round, so I am sure other members of the club will also have unexpected changes.

I will give another update when I have anything further from England Golf.

I've only got 10 scores in so far, but noticed it originally left out an 84 in favour of an 85. Then a couple of days later they dropped the 85 and counted the 84... (no further scores were added)

Curiously the V1 app has my handicap at 12.2 but MyEG has it at 12.5 ?

Has anyone here reporting an unexplained change not played any 9 hole rounds?
Well yeah, me, but we established that my last few rounds must have been entered under the wrong course/slope rating.

England Golf must have been doing a global review and correcting things that were wrong I guess.

Ive got a mix of both but no 9 holers for some time now..

No change of course or slope or anything!
