I posted a couple of weeks ago about my putting woes. I was struggling with contact and had some suggestions for what to do next, including the Dave Hick's Got the VIBE shaft insert. I rechecked everything and slightly adjusted my set up.
I then contacted a wonderful man at City Golf, Arthur Bates. Arthur is the Dave Hicks rep and was keen to ensure I was having lessons, had my putting checked recently etc before looking at new equipment. He also suggested I look at my tempo to improve quality of stroke.
So I revisted the videos Bob posted regarding judging distances. Rather than looking at his stroke length I looked at his tempo and tred to replicate. I'm now stroking the ball with a slower smoother tempo and am putting much better. In my round yesterday I putted, chipped and pitched so much better than I ever have
It's just a shame that my long game went AWOL for the majority of the round, hit nine decent tee shots all round and scored +3 for those holes (birdie, 5 pars, two bogeys, one double). Sadly I can't work on it as I've injured my back but hoping it is just some short term soreness.
Anyway, just wanted to say thank you to those that gave me a virtual slap round the face on the 'Am I good enough for my Scotty' thread. Scotty is staying put, though I'm still going to give one of those VIBE things a go. It costs nothing to try it so why not give it a whirl.
