Murray out of Wimbledon !

Following on from two top Gentlemen's semi's there was always a danger the Ladies final would be underwhelming...
But 65mins, of play, was even worse than I'd thought it could be...

Kevin Anderson, it could be said, has over-achieved in reaching the final...
And, I wouldn't be surprised if he manages to complete the deal...

Looking unlikely, sadly.

Tennis can be brilliant, or rubbish. Stretching the Womens to 5 sets wont make it better, necessarily. Some of the mens games are not great either, just longer. Some are amazing, some not. Shortening the mens to 3 sets would deprive the viewer of some classics.

Equal money? I think not, but close. Its about bums on seats, and they don't provide it. Entertainment? It can be. Depends who is playing. I would happily pay to watch Steffi, back in the day.

I watched the first two sets of the final, before the proper sports final of the weekend started. Anderson looked absolutely shagged and never had a chance. Surely they have to change the ludicrous rule where they keep playing forever in the last set. He looked like he'd just run a marathon in 30° heat and then been asked to compete in a tennis match - which is not very far from what actually happened!

His serve was no longer a weapon as he was pooped! Just had a great idea - when it gets to 6 all in the final set remove the mulligans...1 serve only! Generally the uber long matches are between two huge servers who can't break each other - although Nadal and Djok were the exception!

It's been suggested that they just play it to 12-12 and then have a tie-break like the other sets. Apparently they do this in the US Open now. That would have saved them an hour or two anyway.

I don't really see the problem with ending it in a tie-break anyway. What they do now is the equivalent of the FA Cup final just having infinite extra time until someone scores rather than go to penalties!
