Multi Tee Medals

I'm confused shouldn't all tees at the course be rated for both men and women under WHS. Every course I've played has ratings across all tees for men and women.
Our reds have been rated for play by men....our yellows have been rated for play by ladies......our white tees remain the exclusive domain of the men.

Not a single lady member has ever expressed any public desire to play off the whites, a small handful (usually single figures) have played socially of the yellows in the past.

The fastest way to slow rounds down is to play off multiple tees.
Wrong. Playing from tees that are too long slows play down; and too often the 'competition/medal' tees are way too long for most players. Get everyone playing from the most appropriate tees for their ability and hitting distance, and pace of play is closer to being optimised.

I think Multi tee comps are another damn fool idea following the WHS. Personally I'd play the same tees as my fellow competitors to be social..
If people need different tees run different comps.

All our tees (Green, Gold, Purple and Silver) are assessed for gents; and all but our longest (Silver) for ladies. I believe there are aspects of some of the holes that work against the Silver's being assessed for ladies.

First medal of the year on Saturday - we can play any of our courses/tees. I'm not playing in it (as will be in Scotland for a football match) but many, if not most, of the Rollup I play in (all teens and higher handicappers) are saying they'll not play off the back tees but off the slightly forward and shorter Purples. Even although the CR for the Purple course is about 2 less than the Silver course - the fact that the turf is still quite soft and most don't carry the ball that far makes the difference between Purple and Silver course more than the 2 shots.

I myself tend to always play off the back (Silver) tees - and oft have opined that I think those playing off Purple have an advantage and so should be diff comp. But for next medal maybe I need to pop my ego into a cupboard; close the door on it, and play off the tees that give me the best chance of a decent score - if that's what I'm looking for from the round.

No issues with multi tees but imo it should be different comps when using different tees

As to the OP point I'd always suggest using the shortest tee possible in this instance as shorter approaches gives more chances at GIR and birdies which can only inspire confidence.
Our White tees are rated for men only.

I doubt we would run them but if they did I would choose yellow simply because the course rating and slope reflect my ability far better than white.
I only get one extra shot playing off the whites (or none depending on my H.I.) but I find there is a 3 shot difference between the 2 these days

Are the scores all lumped in together or are there different prizes off different tees?
I know a club near me tried this and some men opted to play off the reds. I hear they were very successful and the club went back to all males off the medal tees.
Course ratings and or slopes, much as they try, do not create a level playing field.

We introduced Multi Tee competitions last year, including Monthly Medals, off any rated tee for either gender. The vast majority of members played off the whites, which is the 2nd furthest back, but one or two low handicappers decided to play off reds at the end of the season. Completely against the spirit of what was intended. This year Medals will be off blue/white (yellow or red for ladies, albeit none of them play). There will be a Yellow/Red tee Stableford running concurrently. In the Medal, anyone hoping to win the Scratch prize will have to play off Blue, which arre the back tees.

We have a lot of optional stablefords on Thursdays and Sundays, which will remain white/yellow/red. The very low handicappers tend to give them a miss, having little chance of winning.

I've no objection to running different competitions concurrently of multiple tees. , but the course is a totally different course off front and back tees.and it's a bit of an absurd affectation to have the same comp of different tees.

My place - all lumped together. Not convinced they should be as the Silver and Purple courses (as defined by the tees) can play quite differently, but when I asked the question of the golf manager or competitions secretary he said that looking across all the Saturday and Sunday medals of last year there was no significant difference between tees used in respect of those who won a medal or did well - I didn't ask about the rest of the field.

It is entirely down to the committee who set the terms of competition.

You could have all age groups and genders competing off whatever tee they want or separate comps off each tee including all age groups and genders or a women only 53 tee medal as well as a junior 53 tee medal and a men’s 53 tee medal and a seniors 53 tee medal then the same for 57, 60 and so on. You could split into divisions all age groups and genders or separate them.

The world is your lobster.

My club allowed multi-tee comps from last year, to encourage more entrants. I always opted for the white tees, as I get a few more shots but in reality the course doesn't seem that much harder.
