Totally agree. Fear of losing the Open gravy boat should not be reason enough. They had a great opportunity to do it right first time, and get the positive publicity last time. Too little too late

Does that mean some established members will resent the new woman members but voted for yes just so they can continue to host the Open? That should be a blast for the new lady members .

Cant see why you would want to be a member of a club that obviously does not want you.

Over 60% of the club did want Ladies Members - there was a campaign from the older generation of members from what I remember of the original vote. I expect that the ladies that would like to join there wouldn't care what a vocal minority think. But you see that sort of loud vocal minority in every Members club - they believe they have the club behind them just because they complain loudly.

I've already posted this above but everyone has either missed it or is ignoring it, but they voted by a large majority in favour of admitting members the last time around but sadly fell just short of the 2/3 majority required by their constitution.

Plenty of votes these days have much less than 65% of eligible voters voting in favour, a few rather significant and recent ones immediately come to mind...

Dont assume the minority can't weald some pull at a club and make the place uncomfortable for people should they wish to do so.....

Mind you all those £200 a round players should subsidize it a lot.

i doubt its subsidizes any, they get so few visitors and they can only play on certain days i think.

Every time I've played its been deserted.

lets not forget this is not your average Members golf club, 99% of the population couldn't even get on the list let alone be invited to be a member

When are Sunningdale and Formby ladies clubs having a vote on admitting male members?

Deserted? Why?

its not overused that's for sure. The majority of the membership are old, the two guys i know always joke that they are juniors (both in 60's) not sure there are that many members TBH. Both the guys i know play more at Gullane than there.

i played there twice last year and were were the only people on the course, both times was in the morning.

I know in the afternoon you can only play 4somes.

you would be hard pushed to find a divot on any of the fairways

The power of the pound has prevailed.
I wonder how many members really wanted women to be allowed to join?
Oh, my car insurance is due .................... I'll just see whether I can get a quote from Sheila's Wheels .

You can. They made car insurance gender neutral about 5 years ago.
