Maybe they've been in intense negotiations with Troon and Carnoustie and realized that the grass isn't greener after all?? ;)
Yep, especially when the accountant has done the sums and seen how much they stand to lose, I read somewhere that Troon told the members subs would go up 50% if they lost out been on the open rota.

what is it really going to achieve???

let one one lady it that hasn't played in 20 years;)

i can't see that a threat of the subs going up would make one jot of difference to anyone that's a member there, none are short of it thats for sure;)

No subs at Muirfield. At the end of the year the costs are all added up and divided by the membership and they are billed accordingly.

They should be told to do one, got their chance and now should accept consequences of their decisions...

voting for all the wrong reasons now

I expect they used the removal of the Open as justification to hold another vote

Certainly doesn't paint golf in a good light

Certainly does not....

to me it takes the honesty out of the vote , they dont want or recognise equality , just they do want the open

To be fair, they did vote in favour of it last time by quite a sizeable majority, just not a big enough majority for their constitution.

Totally agree. Fear of losing the Open gravy boat should not be reason enough. They had a great opportunity to do it right first time, and get the positive publicity last time. Too little too late
