I've moved with a small family, hired a Luton van and went DIY as well. Mind you I only went around the corner so could make the several trips it took quite easily. Its not that hard if you have a few mates to muck in an help.

On Friday night, I had definately lost the 'discussion'.
However. I come back from golf on Saturday and she asks me what the quotes were. She'd been packing all day, and had to move some boxes. Result.
This is of course after I'd arranged a friend to come over and help next weekend for when we get the hire van!
But it's a bit of a relief for me, I can tell you.
