I started a thread early last year about getting back on 2 wheels after crashing my 9r in 2010 and thought i'd give a little update on it.......

I ended up purchasing a Yamaha r6 in april last year and it was awesome fun,was like I was never away.used the bike mostly for commuting to work and rarely went out for a blast, except for a weekend away to a bike meet down south.

in September there I got rid of the r6 and bought a Suzuki gsxr 1000 zk4.....now that is a proper machine.

sadly i'll need to sell her to fund a holiday but my plan is to sell the thou, pay off the holiday then buy a cheaper hack to mess about on.......hopefully a c model 9r.

this was the r6 a week before I picked her up

I'm not into bikes but one of my fitters has 2 beautiful Triumph Rocket 3's with some uprated scorpion exhausts

A 2.3 engine on 2 wheels and more torque than most can handle. Best parts is the roar from the exhausts as you can hear them from miles down the valley

Love the gold wheels on the gixxer!

Just got rid of my Street R... old age and rattling marbles

Love the black & gold, very nice.

Got a Honda CB600 Hornet & a Yamaha WR400 in my garage. Love them to bits, but they'll both be gone in a few weeks due to finances.:(

Shame as the Hornet has had a fair bit spent on it. CBR990 front end forks, wheel and 330mm discs. Handles, and stops like a dream.

Good luck getting back on two wheels

Lad has a 750GSXR...

He's been a bit 'secretive' lately so I am guessing the Ducati he has been hankering after is on order ready for summer [should it arrive]... He goes to many of the BSB rounds as he is well into his bike racing...

I miss my bikes. I used to race also, and after racing stopped I have not ridden on the road again. It's too much of a lottery out there, add in the factor I am an idiot = stay in the car. I really miss it, but in my heart and head I know I would either be dead or in prison.

Th thou looks awesome in the OP gold wheels rock! I will dig out some of my old race gixxer..

Found some various ones, also a couple of some lovelies I have been lucky enough to play with

I do not know anyone that has fallen off a car going round a roundabout, great things but I'd rather die in bed.

Strange that!

I was twice hospitalised after car accidents (in each case thanks to some other idiot) but rode bikes on and off road + track days and never got hurt.

Just lucky or, in the case of 4 wheels, unlucky.

And dying in your beds many years from now,
would you be willing to trade all the days,
from this day to that,
for one chance,
just one chance,
to come back here and tell our enemies
that they may take our lives,
but they'll never take our FREEDOM!!!

I think you have been unlucky, but imagine you were on a bike when you had your car accidents! I have crashed on the road and on track, road stuff all under 30mph luckily, hurt like hell though! Iodine scrub on gravel rash will bring a grown man to tears. Also crashed at well over 100mph at snetterton and to straight up and walked away...

Been to too many funerals of mates to put my family through it. Bike run in the blood in our family, dad raced sidecars at the IOM TT for ten years in the 80's/90's. myself and my 2 brothers have all raced, and my big bro is the editor of a popular bike magazine. My son has the bug and I am waiting for his 5th birthday to get his first motoX bike.

I just have a thing where I put a lid on, and take my brain out. Can't be trusted... Also got banned for dangerous driving (on bike) so any more naughty behaviour, I actually would go to prison I expect....

I hear what you say & agree. At my age, 64, I am stil tempted to have just one more bike but if I do it will be a modern Royal Enfield for pottering around the local lanes.

These days if I got my knee down I don't think I would get it back up again!

By the way I am the only one who when watching the "on board" coverage of Moto GP or BSB actually lean with the picture. At least it amuses HID.

You are never too old! My mum and dad have retired to the mid Pyrenees and they run a guided motorcycle tours business there, they are both in their early 60's. dad has a fazer now as his fireblade ruined his wrists, mum has a classic fzr1000 and a zx6.

I love the on board stuff too! I am a sofa leaner too! The gyro camera work now throws me a bit, do I lean or sit still?!

I had a Tiger Cub, rode it through back streets with no helmet, came off and still have the scars, love the look and sound of bikes but scary or what:eek:
