Motor accident - Personal injury claim again

Insurance companies sell the details of their recent claims to solicitors/claim companies that is a fact.

These insurance companies are making millions alone by selling these details, but they blame the claim culture for increasing premiums.

I'd be quite interested to find out how many/what percentage of whiplash claimants hadn't checked their head and neck protection was correctly set up for them. My understanding is that a correctly set up headrest cuts down most of the whiplash damage caused by a rear end shunt. I'll bet most of people just hop in their cars with the headrest in the same position as the day they bought it!

Not a road safety freak but as much as I could do with trousering a few grand of someone else's hard earned the missus would be ready to kill me once the golf withdrawal symptoms kick in!

But what about the seats in sports cars? Racing bucket seats are all one piece.

I see the reply's here and think has anyone been involved in a shunt or accident ? you are waiting at a roundabout and the daft old bint hits into the back of you at say 10mph whilst you are looking right to see when it is clear, Now tell me whilst your head is in that position and you get shunted believe me it is a sare yin, not right away not even a day later but 2 or 3 days down the line you are off work as it hits you. And some do not think you are entitled to pain and suffering or lost wages. It does not have to be a big shunt or accident it depends on how you are sitting at the time you get hit. Yes there are many out there who are at it but do not class everyone in that bracket.

Except ..the daft old bint is more likely to be a scatterbrained teenager!!
That is why thier premiums are so high and the daft old bints pay next to nothing.
In the two bumps from behind we have been involved in both involved teenagers.

I got rear ended by a bus at red traffic lights. I was in a 1989 VW polo. Smashed it hard enough to put the back of the car in line with middle of the rear wheels and the car needed cut open as the doors couldn't be opened, I hopped out and didn't feel a thing because of shock. The following day I could barely move. I put in a claim. Got 3K which helped me get a few debts sorted and made life at uni a little more comfortable. The claim was for whiplash and knee injury. I couldn't grip lift a cup of tea properly for a week after and also damaged my left knee as I had the clutch fully depressed at the time which left me hobbling around for a few weeks. Missed a holiday I was due to go on but I hadn't paid for it and the travel insurance covered that. Took about 3 weeks before I could put my full weight on the left leg. Didn't miss any work as I was at uni. Some might say why claim for it then it wasn't that bad. Well now 10 years later my knee gives me major trouble. G.P said that the damage from the crash had left the knee weak and prone to injury hence the current problems. So really now is the time I'm paying for the accident not when it happened. Should I not have claimed against them for something that was entirely their fault?

If you rear end someone it is your fault. Doesn't matter what speed is involved you should leave enough space to stop. Whiplash is a git and although it may not cripple you, you are entitled to something. Now if the claim is fraudulent then thats another matter and the solicitors do encourage you to paint a poor looking picture. I personally just told the truth but had I gone the route I was encouraged I probably could have double the claim. The fact of compensation isn't the issue. It is the culture of exaggerated claims that are.
