Most Upsetting Goal You've Seen

Gazza for England against Scotland at Euro 96. I didn't see it in real time because I still had my head in my hands after Gary mcallister's penalty miss.... A real double whammy!

I nearly celebrated that goal. :o terrific player.

Adrian Sprott for Hamilton. Scottish Cup third round, Rangers (Chris Woods) hadn't conceded a goal in around 11 or 12 games, absolute given that Hamilton would get thumped. We absolutely pounded them but could not score, Sprott pops up and promptly puts us out the cup!

To make matters worse, the Hamilton Accies player/asst coach ? (Gerry Phillips) wife was my French teacher and I'd been winding her up all week that her hubby was going to be 'hame early for his tea on setirday miss'................man, she slaughtered me for about a month afterwards.

On the plus side, she was absolutely gorgeous and I fair enjoyed the extra attention I was getting. :D

Where to start? Being a hibby my back catalogue is rather deep.

McCoist in the League Cup final when it was played at Parkhead.Came on as a sub, scored an over head kick.

Or Wayne Foster last minute winner in SC.

Merry xmas.

Bolton's equaliser in the Championship play off finals in 1994. We were 2-0 up misssed a penalty, and they then scored twice in the last 12 minutes, before winning 4-3 in extra time.:(

Having watched my first game in 1969, and always being in the bottom two divisions, except for a couple of seasons in the 80's, I thought at the time it would be the only chance we would ever get of playing in the Premier league in my lifetime.

My first thought on this thread was Branagan's penalty save in that game, it was as good as scoring a goal. I don't think any Bolton fan in the stadium believed that Kurt Nogan(?) would do anything but score.

Staying with the play-offs, I'm sure if there where any Gillingham fans on the forum, they'd all have the same bad memories from the Man City game. Now that must have hurt!

Franks equalizing goal against Germany. My lad had decided to watch the game at ours and not the pub with our grandson because of the bad language.

Very bad move. The air was all shades of blue and I ended up in the garden steaming and chain smoking.

The cheating "buffoons" (add your own word for full effect) at FIFA have ensured I'll never watch England again. (Unless we actual have a team worth watching and reach a final, but that will never happen again)

1970 World Cup
England v W.Germany in the QuarterFinal(?)
I was 6.
Gerd Muller scored in the last few minutes to steal the game after England went 2 up.
The Old Man let us stay up and watch it - at the end we were ushered off to bed and I cried me eyes out for half an hour....bloody Germans.......

I was 18, I was still crying the following day.

There were a lot of upsetting goals when Blackpool were in the Prem but none worse that away at Blackburn, deep in jury time, we should have had a free kick down near their corner flag, but the ref gave it the other way, ball booted down field, ref gave another dubious free kick which they scored from and fulltime whistle blew. Cost us a win and 2 points.

I'd almost forgotten about coistys overhead kick. First touch of the ball was it not?

I loved Gazza but he was playing for the wrong team that day!

I might need to visit the best goal thread for a different Gazza effort!

The one against the sheep when he ran the full length of the park and scored springs to mind.
You could argue he won the league single handed that day.

That's the one I was thinking of. I was there that day, Gazza's hat trick - two fantastic goals and a penalty, clinched 8 in a row! :whoo:

How times have changed..... :(

Sorry FD, but that has been one of my favourites!

PS. Should never have been a Penalty either!

Scotland Holland in the world cup finals.

We had to win by 3 clear goals or we were out and we were winning 3 - 1 at one point (Archie Gemmel genius run and goal), then some windmill merchant blasted a 30 yarder in making the task nigh impossible. Great game though and the lads all came home to a heros welcome. We love a tryer and underdog in Scotland

Yep. If I remember correctly we were struggling to make the breakthrough that day. Alan McLaren told Gazza that we needed a bit of magic and he promptly turned the game on its head.

Times have indeed changed. :( We'll be back on top though, eventually!
