All of the options! Love the long drive when its straight and the long/mid iron in to the green but voted for the delicate chip/ pitch. Played last week and everything was going close. The confidence and good feeling you get from walking up to the ball and knowing it was going close was immense. Especially when it normally never happens that way!

One you not mention is hitting a great drive , long iron or any long shot and then making the putt , Example , I played Vila Sol a few years ago and the 9th hole is a hole of about 330 yards slight dogleg left and tree lined on the left , its on the loop 1 to 9 for those that have played it , Well i hit a big drawing drive onto the green , 2 green keepers near the tee then drove up towards the green to watch me putt , well i had about a 20 foot putt which i took my time over and yes holed it for eagle 2 and they clapped , great feeling that , hitting a great shot and then hole the putt , I have hit a few but to hole the putt is what really makes it ................

All the choices are rare for me :D

Choose the long iron as i hit one in december 190 yds, 4 iron into a stiff wind, soft green the ball virtually plugged 2 ft from the hole, made a rare birdie

I went for the long iron as its the weakest part of my game by a long way.

Sinking a long put ran it a close 2nd!

1, 3 and 5 are fairly likely to happen in a round

I voted: Recovering from horrendous situation.

Something strangely satisfying when you play a worldy of a recovery shot.

The one that stands out for me was when I hit my drive into an orchard.

I hit a low, hooking, 7 iron to about 10ft while my playing partner missed the green from the fairway.

Was that a 4 knuckle grip? ;)

pretty clear what the front runner is so far. :)

probably because on the one hand it's the most clearly defined in absolute terms - approach shot to 6ft; and on the other it's open to subjective interpretation in terms of the long/mid iron (from the responses) ie everyone can easily create a satisfying scenario for them.

however you can't create such polls without these elements - even if you defined everything in absolute terms (drive 250 to the centre, iron to 6' from 160yds, wedge to 3ft, chip to the edge of the hole or sink a 20ft breaking putt) everyone will consider the relative achievement by them in considering their response!

welcome to the forum :)

A nice chip/pitch, that drops in or at the very least stops within gimme distance.

I am not good enough at the moment for a long iron to the flag, or even holing a 10+ ft putt, but between a long smashed drive, or a chip to gimme distance, I would go for the chip every time.

Brilliant feeling!

Long iron approach for me. Best struck 4 iron I have probably ever hit came during a time when I wasn't hitting the ball too well at all. Playing at Hunstanton on the 17th (for those that know it), I had around 190-200 in, playing in a pro-am foursomes event. Nutted the ball straight at the pin. It finished around 12ft away, just to the left, but until we got to the green, we didnt realise how good it actually was as it is so narrow!

Ive asked players, sex or pured 3i from 200yds to 3ft?
but now it's Aimpoint a 20-30ft putt and see the looks on their faces when it's drained after I get the perverbial taken out of me. Priceless.
