Most dramatic and nailbiting finishes in sport

Is that the game that is referenced in the movie Good Will Hunting?
Yep that's the one - the ScumSox on the verge of ending their (at the time) 68-year title drought, 5-3 up with two out in the 10th inning and no-one on base. And lost/ The legendary error by Bill Buckner at 1st base that allowed the winning run to score. There is also a great story about the BBC's Mike Carlson stark naked in a Monaco hotel room at 5am local time trying to get the radio signal but that's for another time.

Dennis Taylor v. Steve Davis 1985 Snooker World Championship Final

also November 2002...Newcastle beating Feyenoord 3-2 with a last minute Craig Bellamy goal to become the first team to make it out of the Champions (and others) League group stages after losing the first three games.

For purely personal reasons...

Cardiff 0-1 Wolves
Neves 67

Madine missed pen '90
Hoilet missed pen '90

Was there that night and the ticker has only just caught up.

Doesn't compare to the others for magnitude obviously 😂

Cricket again, 2005 Ashes, Egbaston. Kicks yesterday into touch, imo. That was way more important, again imo.

There are many other cricket matches that have gone that close but because they don't involve England they don't stick in our memories.

(great shout by IanM, the 2003 Rugby World Cup)

Was thinking same last night.

Everything was on the line then.

Could barely watch it, very close to tears of happiness when we won!

Steve Redgrave's 5th olympic gold medal - with Pinsent, Cracknell & Foster. Jeez, those Italians & Aussies were coming up fast... The only time I ever recall jumping out of my chair and screaming at the telly
