More categories

Only issue I have is two of the sectional descriptions. The Lounge "Come in and discuss anything".Then, Out of Bounds "For all off-topic stuff". How can there be off topic if the lounge is for anything?

This may be a casue of confusion to some.

Well for me it is a golf forum so it says to me discuss anything to do with golf everything else goes in OOB.

But that's not what it says. Nor should you assume that everyone has the same level of astuteness as you to notice this. People post things in the wrong place for a number of reasons, all I'm saying is that ambiguity in headers could be one of them. Anything is a big ol' word.

I agree with a lot of what The Craw says.

Have a look at the sections on the Golf Magic Forum, some good ones there.

If I'm honest, I only look at which category a thread is in when I start one...
I use the New Posts button or the Today's Posts button - if I still can't find anything I'll search....

I can see what those who want more sections are saying and up to a point there may be some benefit but too many will cause more confusion than too few...

The biggest issue is that the forum is too condensed, we as a forum community have grown and we continue to grow. Threads are getting lost within a day now and if you don't log in for two or three days you miss hundreds of good threads.

A lot of good information is lost.

Its easier to search a forum dedicated to what your looking for.

It is down to how we as individuals use the Forum. For me I log on and:-
1) Go straight into 'latest posts and read and reply if I want to
2) If I want to start a thread ( a rare occurance ) I will decide which section is appropriate.
3) If I want to search for say what's the best golf ball to use when I have just lost a box of Prov's and want to buy a more accurate ball where do I go?
It is the latter category 3 which is the least used by me but the most difficult one to navigate. Therefore the more post categories the better.
Why not even one for new forum members to introduce themselves?

I think we need a section for selling second hand scrap metal, and possibly wicker work baskets.

Failing that, why not leave it alone?

Interesting discussion and I see both sides. At the moment as Craw says you can spend a lot of time having to catch up if you don't log one for just a day or 2. More categores would make it easier to find stuff (I know there is a search function but it's a bit blunt).

However I think the Lounge is great for general discussions and I quite like the fact that the range of issues is so wide and it's all together in one place so I can browse through them.

Hmm.

I think maybe some more categories for specific areas like Technique, Equipment, Course Reviews, Rules queries, etc might be good.
