Morning all,
Circumstances have dictated that I'm destined to go the whole of January without picking up a club, but with normal golfing service being resumed for at least some of us this week, I wanted to run a couple of quick 'season-opening' polls by our forum regulars.

So here goes...

At the moment my mid irons will need to be sharpened up before the comp season starts and I fully expect to drop from 5 to 3 this year.

I have all the equipment i'm going to need but I will purchase a new pair of shoes for summer

Used to play off nine, but am now around 16-17 as I only play once a month if lucky. Intend to get lots of golf in this year, so am looking to get down to at least 10 this year.

In the bag
---------------------
TaylorMade R7 11.5 degree stiff
Titleist 18.5 deg fairway wood
Mizuno MP-32 blades 3 - PW
Titleist Vokey wedges SW 56 and 60 LW
Oddysey White Hot

Off to Ping in March to get C/F for new irons I15 or S57 nothing wrong with the G10s but the wife decide to have new bedroom furniture fitted so I though why not get some new clubs, so come March there will be a set G10s black dot for sale.Hope to drop 3 shots by the end of the year

As per my blog I'm looking at single figures this year. My bag is pretty set not (unless GM need some more gear testing) so I'm probably going to look at some Myjoys later in the year as my next splurge

I could do with some work on the mental side particularly first tee nerves and managing expectation

Need to get my driving back on track. Just not consistent enough at the moment. Would just like to consolidate handicap this year. Thinking about a hybrid and a new carry bag but otherwise I'm fully kitted out.

Buddy heck everybody is on the ball this morn.
Need a new set of irons my set are 8 years old.
Mid irons as i normally lay up short of the green.
Want to get down to Tiger points.
Will see what happens as only been to the range since xmas.

I think there are going to be 8 or 9 disappointed guys come the end of the h/cap qualifying year :D.
Mid irons for me, 1shot reduction, any more would be an absolute bonus. I intend buying a new 56 degree wedge as my current coley is about done. I have practically every other club I could possibly want or need without having to go for newer models now.

Shoes for me. I have some how managed to lose or leave my black shoes somewhere last year! Good knows where right enough!

Handicap wise, need to try and get it consolidated at 4! Always, up,up,up,down, down, down, down,up point one.

Short game for me to improve as well. I'm as deadly as butterfly from 80 yards in!

Definitely my mid irons, really can't seem to connect with any consistency on the course, its been this way for a while now so can't blame the lay-off due to the weather :(

Strange thing is that at the range I am rarely hitting a bad shot, guess it must be a mental thing now :D

Off the tee and woods off the deck are the best they've ever been, it's so frustrating when you hit the middle of every fairway then make a complete hash of the 2nd shot!

Pretty much sorted for gear, will be replacing the footjoys before long though.

My short game is bad and my mental game isn't much better neither. I will buy myself a new set of sticks once i get 18hcap.

Just got home from work so i'm going to play 9 holes.

Long approach shots for me, far too many are wayward and either fall short, or fall to left/right of the intended target.....interestingly i'm never too long and through the back (unless its a thin).

I expect (hope) my handicap comes down by at least 3 this year as I get back into the groove again, I know I can do it if I get enough games in.

My main splodge is going to be an eleccy trolley, having said that if my fitness regime continues to plan I may get some new irons instead!

Consistant driving will be the thing I will work on most, started to see some improvement but still early days.

I will get down to 9 and stay there this year.

Apart from the usual new shoes I will look to replace my irons as mine are almost antiques. :(

Need to get my driving sorted out, as the rest of my game is OK. May splash out on a Ping Rapture V2 to replace my G5 - if you've got one what are they like?

Wedge play for me. I'm starting to be quite consistent off the tee and, hitting the ball a decent distance, I end up with 4-5 wedge shots of between 60-90 yards into the green.

I can guarantee that I will be blow at least two of them quite badly which then affects my mindset as I'll be so irritated at having blasted a craking drive 280 down the middle and then duff what should be an easy pitch into the green. Rather than looking at a birdie putt, I'm looking at scrambling for par (or worse).

Hugely annoying. I've been practising like mad down at the range but I find with a wedge you can only really practice them on grass as the matts can be quite forgiving whereas turf is not. Now the snow's gone, I should get the chance to practice properly.

Putting

Putting

and more putting.

Not too bad off the tee, pretty good irons, chipping/pitching pretty good.

not great at putting, a couple of 3 puts every round.

Costs me 4 -6 shots sometimes.

Got myself a new scotty Cam putter before the snow came and practised quite a bit as not been able to play for 5 weeks.

Played Royal Dornach sat, sank everything and again at fortrose sunday.

Roll on summer!!!!

My wedge play inside 100 yards needs to improve and if i can improve that i feel i can get my handicap down to 4/5. At the moment im happy with my kit but new shoes wont go a miss.

Need to get my driving more consistent, ending up using 5 wood last year to try and hit fairways. Have been practicing at range and at least 3 wood seems a bit more consistent.

Hope to get handicap down by 4 and may purchase some wedges, other than that may buy another pair of shoes.

Just desparate to get the season started and some competitions under my belt.
