Re: Mobile phones/golf club - your view?
Texting does take time even for those adept at it & down the fairway it is going to slow things down, probably more than a quick call..... If you absolutely feel like it
In my mind few things are rarely so important to carry on a full conversation instantly. Same goes for texting on the course. By all means do it if your group is taking a lengthy stop at the halfway house if there is one. Otherwise leave calls till you get back to the clubhouse.
Texting can be discrete, but some people don't seem to know how to be discrete. As I've said I've used mine to text before, but I know people at work who every break are texting constantly & its probably more annoying than someone on the phone all the time. And constant texters seem to send absolutely meaningless pointless messages.
My texts are few & far between... I'll fit in what I need to say & only make another if I absolutely have to. If I were in the clubhouse the likelyhood of me using the mobile to text someone would be low.
As pointed out before. If I'm at the golf club I don't really wish to be disturbed by anything. I'll have it with me on silent. I'f I've felt it vibrate, quick glance see what the person was when descretly able to Or what the text was & then the phone gets instantly popped back in its pouch, to be left till I feel I wish to talk to or return a text to that person. Nothing is so important...rarely to interupt golf.
