Nope. 64 or 128gb is about normal these days. Photos, apps, music, etc all take up space.

I had 30gb of just WhatsApp stuff. Cleaned that right up.

Android OS has got bigger so you'll be tight. Can you transfer stuff to an SD card. Look in the settings at 'storage' and transfer options. 32gb would be best as internal with a 64gb SD card for photos, music etc

i have a 1990s flip phone that does nothing but make and receive phone calls and save voice mail.
I have it because I can actually figure out how to use it. (I've never once sent or received a text, btw.)

The first smart phone that I tried rang and I couldn't figure out how to answer it. Everything I tried failed.

The phone store wouldn't take it back but I had them reactivate my old one and it still trudges on.

Let them. I have GPS in my car and on the golf course. I have internet on my laptop. What the hell do I need with a smart phone?

This is an issue with the cheap end of the smart phone market, in that once you have installed the OS and a few apps then there ain't much space left and it's difficult to future proof them to any degree. As the phone will quickly fill up and slow down, so it can be a bit of a false economy. I'm guessing you won't be a power user of Tik Tok but as BM says above I'd get a SD card, some things can't be transferred onto them but you can at least stick any photos and videos on it which will stop your memory getting completely clogged up. This is a good explanation https://www.giffgaff.com/blog/how-much-storage-do-you-really-need-on-your-phone/

Has got a sl ot but might go back and see if I can exchange ( got 30 days) , Motorola seem to have 32 gb standard.

Don't be afraid of looking at companies like Xiaomi. I've just got one of their flagship models that does everything one of the top end models from Samsung etc does for about a third of the price.

Stick a micro SD card in the slot and don't look back

You haven't got an iPhone your not limited to just what they give as standard

Cards can be picked up dirt cheap on amazon

Agree completely. My wife hasn’t long gone to a Xiaomi Pocophone F1, £269 for a full on smart phone with 64/128gb memory that expandable or dual sim possible. Previously she had an iPhone and before that Samsung. The F1 is lightning fast with only some slightly cartoony icons, but for the price it can’t be beat

You're complaining that nobody is up at midnight yet you've never sent or received a text message!!!

My Samsung Note 9 has got 512g before putting a SD card, trying my best to fill it up too but I'll never get anywhere near full.

Make sure you but the right one! Most likely you need a Micro SD card.. check first!!

If you use your phone for taking videos you'll be best to get a micro-SD commonly used in newer digital cameras with a Hi-speed data capability. Cheap cards aren't very reliable.

They make some great phones I had the mi5 for 3 years, installed a custom rom and its was the best phone iv even owned no ads, popups, ran flawless, I'm now using the latest samsung and I absolutely hate it,
I also have a Xiaomi robot hoover that's just as good

My Motorola G7 has 64GB on-board storage and I've added in a 64GB Micro SD.
On most Android phones now you have the option to set up the card as portable or internal storage. Setting it up as internal means that some apps will then go onto the SD card and save the on-board memory. As above though, 16GB on-board storage isn't much in this day and age.
