Was just up at AG to kill half an hour at lunch and ended up having a swing with a Mizuno 6 iron with some contraption on the shaft. It measured clubhead speed, launch angle and then pointed you in the direction of the shafts best suited to your swing.

Long story short, I'm not using the right shafts!

Has anybody else used this and how accurate is it?

It's a good piece of kit.

I use it during my Mizzy fitting and it showed all the info the fitter needed to get me the correct shaft and I've never hit the ball better than I do now.

YOu get 3 options when they hit the button on the computer, the fitter should let you try all 3 to see which fits best.

Had a fitting recently where this was used to determine the three best options for my swing. Seemed to work well and cut out a lot of wated time trying shafts I could never get the best out of.

tried my options and found my best performing out of them..... easy :D

Yep good bit of kit but it is only an indicator and you do need to try the shafts it recommends

It is the Mizuno DNA system and it is widely used and widely respected by not just Mizuno fitters. There are many posts on here about it, have a little search. Also the Mizuno forum has alot of posts on it.

Ian was this not the point you tell us your stats are the same as Luke`s?
:D :D :D :D

Thanks for the feedback.

Although it now means I will probably have to cough up for the correct spec, because if I dont its just gonna play on my mind - buggeration!

Does explain why I hit the ball so high though?

tried it recently. I don't understand how all the numbers relate to the way I swing though.

it will give you more than 3 options and in both steel and graphite, depends what buttons they press.

it gave R300, KBS, Nippon and another I forget. tried a JPX 800 set up with the KBS - terrible, there is more life in a dead parrot.

The right shaft is a wonderful thing. How much they looking for to reshaft the 32s?

Didnt get that far, was just told that they would recommend Dynamic Gold S300 for my swing, didnt get any other options.

Reshafting 3-PW would be a few hundred I reckon, would be as well stumping a bit more and going for a new set?

Need to go stiff!
Where have I heard that before? :o

Your asking alot of expensive questions.

The Swing DNA is a starter for ten, what comes up on the screen is not for sure the shaft you should have. It is ment to give the fitter an idea of where you are at. At my Mizuno fitting I ended up with a shaft that did not come up on the DNA screen but we got to it by looking at what did and then looking at the numbers (spin/club head speed mostly) change. Feel was the most important thing after the spin rate.

If you are going to do anything, be sure you are happy with who is doing it, someone you trust and someone who is looking at the right bits of data and using them in the right way. Not the person who gets some data and takes the 1st reference as gold.

Personally I'd be very wary (from experience) of any sort of equipment advice from AG and would much prefer to get a club pro or a Mizzy fitting centre to confirm what the AG store said.

I know it comes down to budget etc but for me, if you could afford it rather than spending £200+ on the right shaft why not buy the bullet and get shiny new sticks as well. Of course if the budget (or the threats of physical violnece from HID) doesn't stretch then reshafting will remove the seeds of doubt
