Mizuno MP Clubs - Its true what they say

still using my 15 year old forged Mizuno's.

Never understood the 'buttery' comment. If my clubs had a buttery feel it would make a dull 'splodge' sound with fart noises as the air bubbles in butter exploded:rolleyes:

Agree here, never felt "Buttery". I would describe them as efficient and simple. No extra anything, just a clean crisp contact with little noise.

You make your own butter?

I get it. Finding the sweet spot is like slicing through the middle of a block of butter straight from the fridge. Maybe you've never hit your mizzies out of the butter spot?...might be worth investing in a lesson or two...you're really missing out.

Had some MP57's a few year ago, then went onto MP53's as I wasn't doing the 57's justice. Now I have moved on from the 53's to a set of JPX 825 Pro's because of the same reason, I cannot do the 53's justice. I love the look, and feel out of the middle of the MP range, but alas I'm not good enough to strike them consistently enough.

Now the JPX are a different kettle of fish when it comes to getting it out there. You get lots, and I mean lots of help with slightly mishit shots, whereas the MP range do not give you much. The feeling is still there mind you, a nice sound as well which I think is down to the Mizuno tuning. If you are a pretty good player and can cream the ball with your irons then the MP range is as good as it probably gets. If you are a bit erratic then the JPX forged series is a better choice, as I have found out.

The wedges I got from DG last week, no stole from DG last week ;) are the MPT-4's, really nice wedges and are a dream to hit. Not very forgiving but I tend to have a slow smooth swing with a wedge which seems to work, wish I could do the same with the irons rather than try to smack the living daylights of the ball with them.

Love my irons. I had T4 wedges and they were nice but not overly impressed with any 'feel' qualities. Had a couple of Mizuno putters that I just didn't get on with. Also had a Bettinardi (sp?) putter that I didn't get on with but that really did feel very nice.

As for the dreaded B word, I think it's more the difference in feel between a good strike and a bad one than the good being so good.
I've had a couple of hits with a mate's G20's and they feel good as well, but a badly hit shot doesn't feel anywhere near as bad as with my clubs.

Don't all irons feel great when you middle them?

Mizuno forged? Nah, you want cast Ping. I like my irons like I like my women...fat, ugly, but practical. Hang on a minute....

The sight, sound and feel of nailing a mid iron out of the middle of my Mizunos or MacGregors on to a well guarded green is one of the things I play golf for. Especially if it's off a beautiful heathland fairway late on a summer afternoon.

Expertly put across, had mp58 and 67's last year while my club hoing was in full swing and really did not think the feel of the good shots outweighed the poor performance they offered. Short even when struck well and no forgiveness. This game is hard enough thanks I'll stick to my ugly sticks.

I have MP-52's other than my new 4i which is a MP-58, can't see any difference between the 2 but I'm a bit of a Mizuno whore :smirk:

maybe you've got your fridge on the wrong setting. Trust me. For example, if your getting withdrawal symptoms over the winter, sometimes playing with a lump of butter is the only way to keep yourself sane.

Its not just the Mizuno irons, the last MP hybrid they made is absolutely fantastic. Looks great, sits a touch open. No messy graphics or alignment sights on the crown. Makes a lovely sound. Perfect. I have two in the bag and they won't be going anywhere for a long time.

They will get their first outing tomorrow. Really excited and planning on having a good range session to warm up before heading to the club.

The past 3 months of intense range sessions with my Cobras should have put me in good stead. Only hit 100 balls with the Mizuno's but i am not overly concerned.

I am playing with Callaway Supersoft balls currently (Superb balls IMO) and i am itching to put these two together.

I will also be wearing my new blue and white Boxer shorts as recommended.....

canae wait!
