Played in our first weekend medal do the year today.

Struck the ball well, stinging it off the tee and consistent with my irons. Major improvement in my putting, moving the weight more to the left side helped me get the ball rolling and stroking through the ball.

At the start of the 17th I'd had 83 blows, including drop shots on 1, 3, 4 and 13, a handfull of duff chips (4 I think) which I was quite happy with but that's where my day ended. Our 17th is a dog leg right, but you need a 280 straight drive to get near being able to go for the green in two, red stake on the left and a wooded area on the right all the way up to the turn. My first drive hooked left into red, couldn't be sure where my ball went in or if it had gone into the water further up so took a provisional which went left into the wooded area. Couldn't find that either... Disappointingly I ended up picking up and NRing instead of going back to the tee.

Played 18 for the hell of it and got a par, 4.

All in all, I played to my handicap there abouts.... Shame about the 17th and the 4 drops earlier.. But game going in the right direction, though handicap isn't!

Know how that last sentence feels. On the plus side I won the roll up today without feeling I swung it great and wasted a number of shots. On the down side there was a very small turn out so the pot was small and I still get a cut.

Had a playing lesson last night and all was going well until a par 3 over water. Three wet balls later I waited for the pro to putt out for his par. Shows that while I am hitting it much better I am still capable of the nightmare hole for no reason. Out of interest if the other 17 holes are returned is there a chance of a handicap cut if the score is good enough?

Not the only one to choke today bud...:) .. I managed to start our medal today bogey bogey double bogey par bogey using up 6 of my 8 shots, then went 9 straight pars.. thought to myself you know what, its not turned out such a bad day afterall and finished double bogey double OUCH!! plus a penalty stroke for slow play lol... chin up remember all the positives!!

I've been working on keeping my right elbow down to reduce my "big" miss shots which are big slices normally. I'm now keeping my elbow down and bringing the club through on the inside which has straightened my shots. So striking it really well..

I had quite a few birdie chances and managed to roll in some nice solid putts.

Not sure on the handicap side of things Homer, but hopefully I can start getting out on the course more in the evenings to try and fix the dodgy holes.
