i spent most of the morning cutting up felled tree's and gathering up the wood for splitting before heading back to split some logs that i had previously stacked.

anyway i decided to split some with the axe,i was using a log splitter but there were some smaller bits and awkward bits that were a real pain in the arse to do with the splitter so i opted for the axe.

all was going well until it ricocheted off the wood i was splitting and hit me perfectly on the ankle.....

amazingly it didn't penetrate the wellies i was wearing but you could clearly see the mark where it had hit me.the pain was unbearable though and i decided to have a look just incase but thankfully it just seems to have bruised my ankle very badly.the pain just now is bad and the movement seems ok.

i think if i had hit my ankle side on or more to the side it may have been much worse but it was a direct hit so just causing sever bruising,it's not swollen too badly, the missus reckons it is but her opinion doesn't count:)

it's funny looking at it because there is a perfect horizontal line on my ankle,i'm trying to imagine what it would of been like if it had taken the foot clean off.....not pretty!!!

Wow, lucky boy, that could have been very nasty indeed. You'll find tomorrow there is less movement as the body tries to repair it. It's worth a trip to get an X-ray Wull as it could be hairline cracked or even chipped.

OMG! .....will you still be able to hit 350yds with only the one good ankle? :ears:

Be more careful next time! ;)

lmao...no just the usual quoted 270-290 yrds haha.

i'm away to cut up logs for another estate tomorrow and for some reason i'm dreading it.it's amazing how one silly wee incident can knock your confidence.

then i'm away to mull for some pheasant shooting,i'm going to enjoy it.

Agree with Darth Wull. I once jumped down off a crusher in a quarry and broke my ankle. Smallest of cracks mind, but enough to be in a stookie for 6 weeks. Worth an hour to nip to hospital and get a quick xray.

Last thing you want is to be working \ golfing on a hairline fracture.

I don't wish to be the cause of any alarm here, but if there is any suspicion that it is more than just heavy bruising my advice too would be to get an x-ray.

Many years ago I had a footballing mate who thought he'd twisted his ankle in a game. It turned out after three or four weeks of pain and a visit to the hospital that he had, indeed, broken it. Unfortunately for him a blood clot had developed around the fracture, which moved onto his lung and killed him.

It pays sometimes to be a typical bloke and visit the quack just to be sure.

eeerrrmmmmm......no,not yet.....but i will :)

Not being funny but with a dodgy ankle and chest pains, should you be anywhere near a loaded gun. What is it about things happening in 3's. Go get an x-ray as you need peace of mind (and treatment if you've bust it) plus you'll score some stronger painkillers. And get that chest sorted.

Wull, I played golf with a Dr last summer (in the rain) and he told me that he's never came across anything in his career that 24 Becks won't cure!

That sounds like a decent course of action plus its on the Doctors orders!!

Can I get a prescription for that?
