How has everyone done?

Have you played well? better than expected?, not as good?Handicaps up or down?, Won any comps or prizes?

Have you played more than you thought, less or just about on pre-season prediction.

What do you wish you had done differently from the start of the season?

Just a few ideas to get you thinking

Well i have reduced my handicap by over 1 already so i am happy with that but i want to be lower!!!
I havnt won anything but have played a few competions and only once come in over handicap and for me thats a real achievement!!! :D
I came 3rd in a 3 round stableford competiton with 102 points, 1 behind 2nd and 5 behind 1st. And i had an awful first round so i could have easily won that if i had played to handicap first round. SO yeah, so far this season i am having a good time and playing some good golf! :D

Easy one for me this:

I let winter practice last too long and so was still messing with the swing in early summer. I dont think I have moved on from last year though I have carded my PB by a long way.

Still time to make the year a success though.

My only aim for the year as we just had a child was to have a good time and I have been in the main.

I waited until the start of march then went for a lesson and made wholesale changes to my swing, it is onlky starting to bed in now but I am writing this year off and looking to get to 7 - 8 next year. :(

Dont write it off Chris there is alot you can achieve before the snow comes.

Bad start but hitting some form now. Nothing but buffer zones and plus .1 to start with, entered my last comp about 3 weeks ago for a .6 cut but have not had chance to enter one since. At least I have undone the early season damage and can aim for my target of 18 by the end of the season.

So far so good

Been playing some good golf this season, but my early scoring was ruined by poor concentration/shot choice/luck on certain holes. Then I got cut by 3.3 in 2 medals in a week, which I thought I would struggle to maintain. However, I've managed to play to buffer since then.

Expecting to get more cuts before the season end and at least reach my season target (12.4).

My other target for the season was to shoot under gross 80. I've managed to hit 80 twice, so think I'm not far off achieving this.

Competition wise, I've still got a quarter final tie to play, and picked up a few quid for places/2's. No other prizes, but we've got a very competitive club so I had no expectations for the season.

Golf wise, I feel like a better player than last year - I'm striking the ball well and getting better with my short game/putting. Also better course strategy (most of the time) has helped.

8/10 - Keep up the good progress

Getting there, handed 2 handicap cards in over the last 2 weeks, averaging 13 but in very different styles! Think I'll almost certainly go lower, last H/C round this weekend if my playing partner is about, if not some much needed practice time on the cards.

Started the season with a new swing and new bats, so its been a while coming together. I'm not there yet, now and then I'll play a stormer front 9 and awful back, or visa versa. The lessons have been both a massive help and a blow to consistency, when I'm doing things right I'm shooting very well but when I get things wrong I don't feel like I can fix them myself, so its back to the pro for another lesson in which he tweeks something else and consistency is shot again. Frustrating, but I'm sticking with it as I know its ultimately going to lead to real improvement. Then I was injured and unable to play for a month and lately works been a pain and at times I'm away/so busy that I don't get out for weeks on end, thats the killer really, wish I had more time to play/practice.

6/10, should stop making sissy excuses

;-)

Nothing but .1's this year so far.
have had a few good rounds but very sporadic and not really showing any consistency.
Target for the year was to consolidate my 8 handicap - well I've gone out to 8.7 now so I need a decent cut to cement the good work of last year.
So very much a "must do better" for me.

In the buffer just about sums me up so far. I've been playing consistently to my h'cap, had a few cuts and only 3 0.1s. My h'cap is .5 down on where I started which is good but not as good as I'd hoped for. However, I feel like there's a decent cut coming up very soon.

My season has been ok so far even though my hp has risen from 9 to 11.
I feel the reason for this was the result in changing clubs and getting used to them[still not happy enough]and the injury to my hip.
However i feel i am striking my woods better than ever, once my putting improves i will be back down to single figures again.
I have had a couple of 2nds,and i have won a pairs comp.
We still have a couple of opens left, captains day,the club champs,st pierre and a return to Blackmoor,so i would hope to be in the mix somewhere along the line.
So all in all fairly happy.

So far so good, got my first handicap back in March and got 15, having set myself a target of anything under 20. Since then I've played 9 competition rounds: first 2 were 0.1 back as I was making swing changes and still learning the course, but its been 7 straight buffer zones now. Theres a cut just around the corner I'm sure, maybe this weekend in the club championship :p

In friendly games I've managed 80 (par 72) twice, so I know I can do it, especially as the white tees only make a real difference on 4 or 5 holes at my course.

Started the year at 12 I think and down to 8 although 1 more 0.1 back and I'll be off 9.

Seem to be playing less consistently at the moment now with up and down rounds as opposed to steady scoring.

Happy enough though and I've also played more than I thought I would which is a bonus, even if it does cost me in "wife bribes"! :D

1st season, got my 1st h/c (28 but gotta start somewhere I guess)

played a few comps, finished around the middle on most, almost had 1 HIO and overall improving. I want to get to 20 by the end of November and have had a couple of rounds below that so know I can.

This year is a learner year so aslong as I improve consistency and course management then anything else is a Brucie bonus :)

Must say I love your attitude to it all.

Best of luck, with that mindset I'm sure you'll improve your handicap and, more importantly, enjoy it in the process.

My knee is 99.9999% stable it seems and Im back playing the game I love pain free, and able to play some of the many great courses that exist again, anything else should just be a bonus

Cmps wise having a year of 2nditis so far, GM centenary day and now 3 club comps (the last one with 43 points lost on countback) handicap will be down to 8 when thats processed and it hopefully will come down again at the weekend (target of cat 1).

Am through to round 4 of the 4 nations better ball comp we entered which has been fun but still a long way to go in that.

7/10, good but can still do better :)

So far, I have played in approx 10 comps and just moved up and down around my start of 11.6 . Hopefully, a supplementary today of 77 should bring it down a bit. Driving and putting has improved and confidence is good.

I have also played a number of excellent courses for the first time (Saunton, Royal North Devon, Weston Super Mare, Ladbrook Park and a new one Astbury Hall). I have more new ones to come (Nairn, Strathpfeffer, Druids Heath and Harbourne)

I am also looking forward to playing in a doubles knockout with my son. All in all a good start.

Pretty happy so far, my goal was an achievable one of getting to 12 handicap and Cat 2, only required a 0.6 reduction and I did it in my third comp of the year.

I've now been down to a low of 11.6 but I think I've been robbed 0.2 which would have got me to 11.4, still trying to sort this out with the club.

My revised and more ambitious goal is to get to 10 and shoot a sub 80 round for the first time.

Getting there. The short game is still a mess but everything else is clicking nicely and even though the handicap has climbed I'm pretty happy with the way I'm hitting it. Got a PB a few weeks back so that was a bonus. Would be nice to get a few cuts but it'll be what it'll be between now and the end of the season. Got a nice trip to Ireland to look forward to and then St Pierre so not too bad
