Metal polish?

Expecting the delivery of a new set of shinys on ~Friday, although with my old clubs they didn't warrant being well looked after i'm still not really the person to be having a thorough clean of them after every round. But say when they arrive and i'm heading to a new course one day and want to show off their 'shinyness' or i fancy selling them and want them in good condition is it possible to use metal polish? I have autosol metal polish for the exhaust on my car and works a treat, is it possible to use a small amount of this on the club head?

Or are there better safer techniques? Apologies if it's a stupid question!
