Mens wrist watches

I don't get the appeal of these expensive watches.

I'll stick to my Garmin, that tracks my steps, heart rate and sleep pattern. Oh, and it also tells the time with reasonable accuracy
You get it or you don’t to be honest.
At my peak, I had 28 watches 😂😂
I love changing straps on my watches and wear different watches for different occasions.

I’ve never seen the appeal of a Rolex. The worst of the high end Swiss makers in my opinion.

My dad has a few nice Swiss watches (Tag, Cartier, Raymond Weil and the like) which he will probably hand down to me, my sister and my kids (only grandchildren) but I’ll forever be an Omega guy.
What’s your reasoning for saying it’s the worst of high end Swiss makers?
I’ve pretty much owned most of the same watches in that bracket in the last 15 years, the one that has never budged is my Rolex Sea-Dweller, never missed a beat 😀

The thread is 'Mens Wristwatches', so guess those with no interest, or wear an Apple watch should perhaps just scroll by :giggle:

The three I have in my overpriced watch roll represent my current rotation and change all the time, but I cannot see anything similar about any of these three and enough justification for me to own more than one...

Do you take your golf bag in the cubicle in the gents, or would no one nick your clubs 🤣

The ones who 'don't see the point' of a mechanical watch never will, so that's not worth the debate.
I wasn't starting a debate, simply expressing my own personal opinion on the matter. Clearly there are others that absolutely love the idea of a really expensive, well crafted watch. I'm not saying they are wrong to have that mindset, it is simply what they are into.

I'm sure there are plenty of things that I value very highly, while others will see no value in it at all.

No reason, except I just don't really like the look of them :D I'm sure mechanically their watches are top notch, given their own in-house movements...they've just never really done anything for me, aesthetically.

I've always been an Omega guy...for as long as I've owned Swiss watches, that was always the pinnacle for me. But even given the fact I own a lovely Seamaster that my wife bought me for my 30th birthday, my most prized possession is a Maurice Lecroix limited edition Jungfrau watch - which is a limited run of 300 made and sold exclusively at "high time", the watch shop that can be found at the top of Mt. Jungfrau in the Swiss Alps. Bought it when my wife (then girlfriend) and I travelled around Europe in 2007.

The J-LeC and AP are lovely pieces.

To be fair the Rolex Submariner is actually alright as well

Of the 3, the Rolex one looks the best, don’t like the one on the right at all. Sorry🤣
...and I'm the total opposite...I love the, almost industrial, look of the Audemars Piguet but don't care much for the other 2.

It's like art...we all have stuff we like and don't like....would be awful if we were all attracted to the same things.

JLC is lovely 😍

Love watches but hate wearing them. Having said that, mine has had a major resurgence this year. I’m working in a job that supposedly doesn’t allow phones to be used, even then I needed the time constantly through the day, it became a chore taking the phone out for the time every 10 mins. Consequently my watch, a solar powered Casio Ediface Waveceptor found its way back onto my wrist and became an extremely useful tool. I had many positive comments about it during the season, a lot of people admiring it.

I get a daily wowcher email. One of the offers today was a Christophe Duchamp watch for £179, 90% off list. Quick google search shows them to be £2195 on their website but lots of reviews saying there is nothing decent about them. Pity as they are quite smart looking.

Surely that’s a fake???

No apparently real, seems you can pick them up from various sources at massively discounted prices. I did a Google on them, they use a Ronda mechanism which is pretty decent by all accounts but overall it looks like a handsome watch but won't have any real value.
