Members course in Surrey (Woking)

...and I am told that the ladies section at CH has a good quorum of 30-50yr olds if you are into mixed golf ;) One of my lady golf buddies is joining CH as well as staying a member at my track (too much money for her own good) - because not enough of her age group at my place.

Camberley Heath would definitely be a good compromise if the 3 W's are too expensive or cliquey. I've been there several times outside of the GM meets and it is a friendly enough place. Not sure about accessibility and societies etc but none of the members I spoke to had any complaints or issues

It looks like I will be moving to Woking before the end of the year. I was thinking of taking a look at Hoebridge for next year but judging by this thread I may not bother!

Don't get me wrong - I really enjoyed my time at Hoebridge. The course is extremely good for a pay and play course. However, if you like the traditions of golf (raked bunkers, fixed pitch marks, being neat & tidy on the course and in the clubhouse) this type of course if definitely not for you. Also, if you do not play first thing in the morning a round can easily take 5 hours. There is also the annoying thing that if you are not playing in a comp that you need at least a 3 ball to play in busy period and you will find no one that will just pitch up and play along. I often could not play a round when none of my friends were around.
Having played West Hill and Woking this weekend I can definitely see the value in forking out the extra cash to join a traditional club. Although I really enjoyed both, my preference is West Hill. There was much more of a community spirit with all the members being extremely friendly. I also thought the course was better and much more challenging than Woking - the last 4/5 holes are great match play holes as any score is possible on these. I'll be joining there soon - if they'll have me.

As you will have guessed by my previous posts, I love West Hill, and think you are making a great choice. Very friendly club, and a lovely course. The 15th is one of the great par 3's and the 18th is such a tough finishing hole, especially if you have a good score going. Would be interested to know how much it is to join.
