McIlroy

You’re right…except he isn’t normal for a pro. He’s far better, and far more successful that a normal pro.

Kevin Na said that winning 5 times on the PGA tour equalled a successful career.
I’m not sure exactly how many PGA tour events Rory won, but I’m pretty sure it’s a fair few more than 5!

hes had 4 successful careers so far ;)

My post was in relation to 2019/20 onwards (since I got into golf) and since 2019/20 he has two PGA tour wins and zero majors - hardly headline stuff.

I hope he does win more, Id love to see it, but I dont think he will.

If you look at more "modern" times, say careers starting since 1990 then only Tiger, Phil, VJ and DJ have more wins than him on the PGA Tour. He's 4 behind DJ, started 2 years later and he wasn't even full time on the PGA Tour for the first few years of his career.

Completely average.

As someone else said, his career seems like a let down to some since he is so bloody good. You expect him to win more with the talent he has.

2019-2020 - Only played 15 events, 7 top 10's, didn't miss a cut and finished 8th on the money list.
2020-2021 - 21 events, 7 top 10's, 14 top 25's, finished 14th in the standings.

90% of pro's would kill for those 2 seasons in a whole career. $8.7M earned on course, completely average I guess.

He was probably one of the players most impacted by Covid. He was on a hot streak leading up to the first lockdown.

Agreed - was it 5 x top 5's in a row before the season was curtailed?

This is probably a perception thing I suppose but what I find weird is he ‘seems’ to take so much time off yet the stats say he still plays a comparable amount of tournaments to many of his peers
Players like Hovland, Thomas (& many others) always seem to be playing week in week out, but it seems like Rory rarely strings 3 weeks together without taking a week or two off

It is average considering hes so great though isnt it? You say 90% would be happy - well I'd suggest (as do his interviews) Rory is in the additional 10% that arent happy with how he's played.

Were not talking about the regular tour pro, were talking about someone who won 4 Majors before he turned 25. Hes now 32.

Would you bet your own money on Rory to win this weekend?

Anyone who bets on wins in golf is a fool!
No one wins more than they lose, except for Tiger in 2 seasons, so more often than not you will lose your bet.

But if you bet on him to top 10, you'd do pretty well, more of then not.

lol, just not true, always more than one way to skin a cat!!!

If I gave you £1,000 to bet on the players, what would you put it on?

Id probably keep it and use it on easier events in future, looks impossible from a betting perspective to me especially with the weather forecast as it currently is!!!!!

If I had to bet it I would probably look to back a handful of players on Betfair and trade the positions throughout the tournament, but thats what I know

Personally will probably have a handful of DFS teams on DK for interest this week

But would you put it on winners, or people placing in the top 5 say?

I haven't a clue what your last sentence means I'm afraid, as I don't gamble

I put little bets on each week, just £1’s and £2’s but each way which is usually top 8 finish (inc ties) Biggest win I’ve had was with Higgo last year, £240 off £2e/w
