So the future Mrs Wolf and I are looking at booking our honeymoon after our Wedding next year, there's been several places mentioned but looks like we're honing in on Mauritius, I literally don't know anyone that's been before, and the good lady knows I'll get bored stiff of sitting on a beach for 2 weeks so has given me carte Blanche for a few days golfing whilst we're away and from the internet looks some nice courses.

So I'm coming cap in hand to fellow forumers in the hope any can help with my 2 questions...

1. Has anyone been there, what's it like and is it worth the money?...

2. Anyone been lucky enough to play golf there and again what's it like?....

Slab's your man - it's where he lives, it's where he resides:giggle:
Middle of the night there now I guess so he'll be on in the morning(y)

It is heaven on earth and slab is a selfish sod for not arranging a forum meet there. 😂
Went with Missis T a few years ago and loved it. Go all inclusive. It is not the cheapest place in the world to eat and drink. We stayed on the east coast and i played Il aux cerf where i met Slab. After that i played Anahita. With the option of playing my favourite of them two courses again. I played Anahita a second time. But for
Me there nowt to choose. Going over to Il aux cerf on a boat with my own clubs was, well hard to describe. Played Anahita the second time when it was the last day of the Mauritius open. Beautiful country with beautiful people. We, sorry I hired a car out there and we loved it. Do your homework on which hotel you play in. Some have golf courses affiliated so you can play as much as you want and have priotity booking. But if you just book all inclusive hotel. It is a good bit cheaper which subsidises your golf. I took me clubs with me and glad i did. Take missis Wolf out with you in the Buggy when you golf. Am sure she will love it.
Slab is deffo the man.

Thanks guys, sounds like Slab is the man to talk to and a potential forum meet in my honeymoon

Will definitely be having Mrs Wolf as my Chauffeur on the course in the buggy, need someone to capture the pictures of me playing ;)

For me, the courses here are probably the best I'll personally ever have the opportunity to play and one of the things that Mauritius has going for it over other tropical islands like the Seychelles etc

If you plan to play more than a single round then getting green fees included is the way to go & ask the lads who've done holidays etc here for advice on who to book with etc but whether its north south east or west coast there are plenty hotels who have either their own course or affiliate deals for inclusive green fees on nearby courses. I've stayed on each coast on long weekends etc and for a small island the climates and topography make each coast a bit different (& the golf courses reflect that too)

I guess figure out what else you'll do to choose the best bit of coast to stay on (some want to stay in the hotel area and others get out and about a bit more or add in other things like sightseeing, scuba etc, the island is virtually ringed by a coral reef) but there's a diverse range of accommodation for every budget/style of trip. As Tashy says there's plenty luxury/all-inclusive places right through to airbnb & glamping (even a place where you sleep in a transparent bubble!)

For golf there's great courses on each coast so that doesn't need to dictate where you stay, I played at Anahita & Mont Choisy over the weekend in the east & north and both very different courses in terms of how they play but both stunning in condition/set-up

Anyway ask away or PM me on anything you want to know (oh, and is it worth it... hell yeah)

Thanks for the low down, we're doing s lot if research this week and looking at booking at the weekend, Mrs Wolf likes the idea of it being a resort with Courses attached so she can come out if she wants to have a stroll or can stay back by the beach or pool to tan herself whilst I'm off having fun...

For courses on the hotel doorstep then Anahita & Heritage Bel Ombre would be the ones to look at (but don’t restrict yourself to hotels with own course as the shuttle services to courses for affiliate guests is good) Anahita & Ile Aux Cerfs are just across the water from each other so just 10 mins water transfer and Ile Aux Cerfs island also has plenty beach space for a different beach-day to the hotel's own beaches. The hotel/courses at Bel Mare are really nice but don’t get into my own top 5

Heritage Bel Ombre GC is on the southwest coast and a belter of a course (it shares the European Tour event with Anahita every other year) and my personal favourite, it’s the furthest from home for me to drive so I don’t get there as often as I’d like but I'm back there next week
Mont Choisy (north) is a new’ish course & doesn’t have its own on-site hotel but plenty affiliates (& one of this year’s finalists for world’s best new golf course)

East coast is very much about the resorts & while the north has its fair share it also has far more choice to eat etc outside a resort than anywhere else and west is kinda in-between. Eating outside a resort is much cheaper than hotel prices if not on all-inclusive deal
Due to the reef the ocean tends to be calm all round for swimming etc but more so in north/west, the surfers etc mostly go to southwest where there’s a break in the reef

Golf is all year round but there is still a difference between the summer/winter temps with Dec-Feb being the hottest and can be sapping to play in even with a buggy

Wolf i forgot to mentuon. When i played the second time at anahita i played with a guy who had booked a villa at AIR BNB on the Anahita course. . it looked stunning. He said it was peanuts. But obviously self catering. Have a look at them. If you do that you need a car ir taci

Heritage is beautiful. We stayed at Heritage Awali last year and absolutely loved it. Would be perfect for a Honeymoon! Golf Course is awesome as well, and has hosted the ET event in Mauritius twice.

If I recall I stayed at the Shandranee land time I went which was one of the few fully all inclusive options then. Food and service was excellent. Had a little pitch and putt course at the hotel to keep your eye in then deals with various local courses. Sadly I never got out to play.

This one's actually top of my list and Mrs likes it to, the all Inc deal means if I wanted I could play every single day!! But will only probably do a couple of rounds as want to experience the rest of the place but could be persuaded to 2 rounds a week!!

We did the all inclusive at Heritage and it was brilliant. 4 or 5 A La Carte restaurants (from memory) that were all superb and then a buffet option which changed every night, the food was really, really good. No limit or restrictions on alcohol either - can drink as much champagne as you like, it's proper all inclusive ;) The course is also superb, the 9th and 18th are such fun holes to play.

I stayed at Heritage a couple of months back for a long weekend, really nice place and recently refurbed. As I said earlier I'm back there next weekend for a couple of rounds (staying at a hotel next door this time) and echo Dan's comment. The 9th is a hole I could play all day but the course as a whole just presses all the right buttons for me
