Got a tie on Wednesday against a new member who is 28 hcp in the Rover (hackers cup) - it's the only comp played on our wee course - the Ashludie and the rough is brutal - so went out tonight and played nine holes hitting an iron and a hybrid off each tee - played the ball teed off with iron out on each hole and was hitting everything well (for me). so that's the tactic early on until I find out if he's a genuine 28 or a bandit, if the latter then I'll have to play out of my skin giving away seven shots.
