Marsden Park Golf Club in Nelson to close!

Pendle council voted to close MPGC at a budget meeting this week, I was a member there when it opened in 1968, my mum was an early lady captain too. It developed from a raw 9 hole course into what is now a challenging 18 hole course that I have played a few times since I got back to golf.

It would be such a shame if it closed.

I heard this news on Tuesday morning.. Some of the guys in the office were looking to join a local club (I work in Burnley).. Looks like Burnley GC will be picking up some new members this season...

Is it going to redeveloped into a housing estate by any chance?

This is unfortunate, I think if you were to ask local golfers, a vast majority would have got it the game at Marsden Park due to it's municipal status.
Every cloud and all that, maybe we could pick up a few new members.

What are the fees like at Colne? I would have thought it more likely that players will go to Towneley

£575 Gents full playing. Not too bad a price but only a nine holer, beauty of the place place for me is I am only 5 mins away and you can generally rack up at anytime and get on the course.

That's not bad at all, I must have a crack at Colne one day, for some reason I have never got around to playing it.
