I watch golf on Sky and it's generally good coverage.. good camera angles and I like the on course interviews with players.

I also like the microphones picking up the chat between players and caddies.. the comments before and after a shot, it gives you a good insight to what the player and caddie are thinking.

What spoils is is the banal, uninteresting, boring comments from Mark Roe in his dull, flat, monotone voice talking over the player.. NO MARK, I don't want to hear your statements of the bleedin' obvious about how he has to get down in 2 for a par, or how he's got a demanding shot from the rough.. I can see that for myself... JUST SHUT UP..!! I missed Robbie MacIntyre effing after his crap shot today because you were dribbling on about how he was playing out of the rough and how he was aiming at the green. Stop taking us all for idiots and just KEEP QUIET, let us watch the shot and enjoy it, and the player/caddie interaction.

Thank you, rant over :-)

You aren't alone in your views. In my opinion he is the weakest link in the Sky line up, and by some margin. Personally I'd bin him and McGinley, neither of whom I think have the persona or the ability to commentate.

Disagree here - i think that both Roe and McGinley are both prepared to call out a bad shot, whereas Murray, in particular, is very reluctant to criticise and always trys to put a positive spin on what is clearly a poor shot.

I think (and of course it's just my opinion) McGinley has no charisma to commentate and talks way too much and doesn't add any value. Roe is more insightful but again I find his delivery very hard to warm to. In regards to criticising players, again I think he can be too OTT and picky. I think Murray understands (whereas Roe seems to forget he made the same mistakes playing) the pressure these top players are under and those trying to even win on the ET tour, begin a career or even scrambling to retain their card. Again, just my view

Agree - Roe is dreadful and wish they would bin him. But perhaps a bit of 'jobs for the boys' and he is in there with the ex-pros union. And in all honesty, there are a lot of people who don't want to do commentary and be on the road 40 weeks of the year. Especially millionaire ex-golfers who don't need the money and could play a few weeks on the champions tour if they want to pad out their pension.

I don't mind McGinley, but appreciate he does repeat a lot of the same stuff.
No doubt at the Masters next year, when they are hitting off the 13th tee he will tell us how a lot of the players hit a 3 wood as it is much easier to draw, compared with a driver.

i dont mind Roe, but even though hes a ryder cup hero captain and player paul McGinley just doesnt do it for me.......... but loved it when he dropped that putt to win the ryder cup!!

Take a note on the number of times Mark Roe says "the game of golf". I would have thought by now he could just shorten that to "golf", it's a habit of his that really annoys me.
