New edition of GM landed on the mat this am and I see the interview with Taylormades CEO is in it. Interestiong comments re the white headed drivers. "The white driver was based on fashion and not technology" - am pretty sure when TM fitted several forum members they were given a presentation based on the so called technology ie alignment better with white against black face etc not that whites cool.

Seems to be a change of story to closer to the truth, the real answer still to me is that they are more noticeable and hence were instantly recognisable as TM drivers (at least initially). Definitely makes me question whether I would believe the next load of TM marketing (all $200m per year of it, 5 times their R&D on all accounts).

Popcorn anyone?

I think his best days are behind him anyway when Level 42 were popular.

I seem to remember the argument was that it was a visual thing. Which one could argue is not really 'technology' as such as all they did is paint it a different color. Where as moving COG, reducing spin, speed pockets etc etc, whether or not they work, is.

So the lessons in love from the GM fitting day were based on fashion and not an actual visual enhancement. Will it be running in the family for the rest of the white headed revolution. Sorry but can't resist a good Level 42 pun (or even a bad one)

I cant find the article now but a little while back 5 guys from the mygolfspy forum spent 3 days at TM with all access. They spent every evening with the TM guys eating and drinking. The TM guys were very clear about how they go about business. They made it clear that the golf equipment industry is shrinking and in order to keep TM growing they have to take business from the other OEMs. They will do and say whatever they need to to take that business.... For the most part they hate Callaway and want all the Callaway business first.

I don't agree with TM marketing strategies but lets face it the guy is a genius as he has put TM on a global scale and all the items are instantly recognisable and im sure any other golfing brand would love to swap with TM and have their global success.

I've not seen this article or the previous 'scientific' claims, however, with the recent driver problems that I covered in another thread, our pro has let me borrow a R11 while I sort out a permanent replacement. My poor shot is an out to in fade / slice depending on club face and with the white head, I can certainly see the club path more clearly on a practice swing that then allows me to either hit the shot with confidence if I am happy or take another practice swing.

(btw - loads of other things different with this loaner - shaft flex / loft / grip size so I know this is a very un-scientific endorsement!!)
