Majors on Sky

Great news. My Sky Sports £15 deal with TalkTalk expires just after The Masters but tempted to extend it and pay full whack now Sky have all the majors.

I would rather stick with what I know than roll the dice on this one.

Sky could do with benching Mark Roe and Rob Lee, but everyone else is decent entertainment - plus when the majors roll round, Mark Roe is usually on the highlights show only.

The on course stuff from Radar and Coltart in particular is excellent. 100 times better than any of the coverage we see from CBS.

Not sure what you think would be improved by moving to a different broadcaster.

My understanding is that Golf TV will be a must to watch much golf from 2022 onwards.
Not sure if Sky will still have any coverage beyond then, or if there is still a deal to be done.

Roll on 2022 then.

As I have stated already, dreadful outdated overpriced crap. If you can accept people like Stirk and Zuel or however you spell her name then fill your boots. Wooden doesn't even start to describe them IMO.

Roe gets criticism on here just about every month.

Genuinely can't stand the product. 😂

You'll be glad that Zuel has taken up a new job in the states.

Personally thought her on course stuff was great, and even saw a very nice little video of her analysing Ho Sung Choi's swing at the weekend.

Certainly knows her stuff and like a lot of the Sky folks, I feel the personality and love of the game comes across. Roe excluded from that comment.

I just hope that come 2022 it is an all or nothing. I'd hate it to be... Golf TV for the 3 US majors and PGA Tour, Sky keeps the Open and Ryder Cup, European Tour goes to BT, womans golf on Premier and WGC's on some other new channel etc etc.

Scottish Football has made a right royal horlicks of it carving up their various competitions to different broadcasters. I think 4 in total if you wanted to watch all televised fixtures.

Ah that's good. I just finally got a half-decent laptop, so I should be able to HDMI it onto the TV instead of watching it on the ipad this time! :D

Only downside is I'm away on a lad's weekend on Masters week.

I'm one of the ones who enjoy the Sky coverage and look forward to this season, however not everyone likes the same thing, be boring if we did.
I couldn't care less about the blokes chatting over it really, as long as I have the option of watching it!

I do agree to a certain extent, the trouble is they spend sooooo long talking rather than showing actual golf it's hard not to be bothered by it if you don't like the presenters. As it happens I quite enjoy the vast majority of the presenters of golf on Sky, so overall I'm more than happy with the Sky coverage.

Golf on sky is top notch and very well presented. SO much better than the US presentations.

It's a shame about Henni Zuel, I really like her enthusiasm and approach. She's been a breath of fresh air, it wont be the same without her.

Love the sessions with pro's too, whats in the bag etc

So glad sky have got them all back again, last year was dreadful.

I’m not a fan of Sky golf coverage , i think there is more substance over style , far too much studio work and adverts and most of the presenters are awful , everytime they just seem to want to show off. And for me the biggest tournament in Golf The Open should never be behind a pay wall BUT at least the comps are only behind one pay wall at the moment.

I agree the open. Unfortunately sport is business these days and the BBC made their thoughts clear re the profit in golf.

Re the adds. They can only show what they're given in the US. At the majors the adds are usually short breaks. Not perfect, but the best option atm.

The Open coverage since Sky took over it has been absolutely class though I think. I wasn't overly keen when Sky started taking over, but they've pumped money into the production and The Open is one of their best events of the year. We get wall to wall golf all day for the full 4 days, barely miss a shot, they've done a brilliant job since they took over The Open contract.

As for too much studio time, there's not much they can do. They're at the behest of the US broadcasters, when they're on ad break or in-studio, there's not a lot they can do about it.

What service you using to watch it? Now tv? You can watch via ps4 or Xbox

Big fan of Sky's major and RC coverage and they do it really well. Not only do they have great on course analysts but their breakfast round up gives you some real insights and depth of the preceding days play
