Luke Shaw most expensive teenager is he all that?

Poor argument IMO. If UTD/Arsenal/Liverpool did it with academy players I'd probably agree.

Theres no argument really it's the way successful clubs work these days anybody trying to say different will struggle to argue with the facts.

How many fully home grown players are there in the top 8 clubs?

UTD are spending money they have earned as club - nothing really wrong with it as opposed to the owners deep pockets

Signed two very good players.

So obviously UTD are entitled to the pick of players as they could offer more money?
Chelsea haven't done bad making serious money on Mata,De Bruyne & Luiz so obviously it's ok for them to splash the cash this transfer window?

Saw him once and he looked the business. Unfortunately my fears of the saints being hammered for there players is coming true. Hope they can invest wisely.

£28m Fellaini.
£38m Mata.
£29m Herrera.
£34m Shaw.

£129m in less than a year

Spot on Phil .

Slime.

An awful lot of money for someone right at the start of their career. He does look a prospect but surely an over inflated price based on what's been achieved so far. If he develops as he looks as though he will what will the re-sale be then?

Great player and great servant but was 24 when he was signed so a little older and more established than Shaw. Not sure he was ever bought for his goal scoring prowess though

That was my point. I'm not saying Shaw will be as good a player as Rio,just pointing out that you don't only spend big on players who will get you goals.

He's 18, so you are talking about a player that has got 15 years in him at the top level. If he turns out to be as good as his potential then it is like buying 2 LBs. Because if you buy a more established one in his mid 20s you have only got to replace him again in 6/7 years time, where shaw does not require that. That is why you pay such a premium for players that young.
