Luke Donald

Forgot to add- Serious, he was fantastic, brilliant, outstanding (along with IMHO worlds no 1 Westwood)!!! Why does he not win everyting? His game was what I call proper golf, so what is is general failings??

TBH i dont watch any golf and its the first time I have really watched him - is that is normal game????

He will always struggle in modern day majors with perhaps the exception of the Open they just seem to be making them longer and longer. That said he certainly has the game to deserve a real run at one and his swing is sublime to look at

That's just bollox Homer. Celtic Manor was nearly 7400yds without a single inch of run. Can't remember seeing Luke lay up on any holes barring the par 5s.

So if it isn't his length why hasn't he competed very often at Majors. He can reach a lot of the long holes I grant you but when he is hitting 3/5W or a long iron into baked greens he's always at a huges disadvantage. At least at the RC the greens were receptive and even held drivers fired into them

Agreed, Luke is a class act. Hope he can get a major under his belt.

Wot he said ^ ^

Not long ago people on here were saying that Donald was almost finished after his hand injury. I for one didn't agree at all.

Really pleased to see him playing so well and watching his sublime swing.
Oh, and just don't agree with this length thing. If he was that short he wouldn't be able to compete, which he seems to be able to do pretty well as far as I can see.

Golfmmad.

Despite being a bit of a fan of Lukes, I did think that his world class days were over after the op and his performance at the matchplay (last year I think). However I'm chuffed to see a return to form. I don't recall him laying up on the 15th par 4! He may of used a driver rather than a 3 wood, but vert few seemed to use the 3 wood. It'll be interesting to see what everyone did use on that hole.

But as expected his iron, bunker play and putting were spot on.

East lake was over 7300 yards and he wasn't too short for that course.

Ok it makes life a little tougher for him, but on his day he can compete with anyone.

I'm sure he could gain an extra ten yards with his driver, but at what cost?

He's alright in my book

:)

He seems to have bulked up this year and his game has improved with it.
Always liked him as he has to be straighter because of his lack of length but he still competes.
Something I think we all aspire to.
He's a proper golfer in my eye

Your theory makes it impossible for the likes of Mike Wier, Zach Johnson, YE Yang, David Toms or Jim Furyk to win a major. Oh hang on a minute, these have all won since the turn of the century and all of them were on the very courses you think Luke can't win on??

It's all about course management, isn't it? I believe it was Zach Johnson who decided that he couldn't make any of the par 5s at Augusta in two so laid up for all of them.

He was something like -5 for the par 5s for the weekend he won.

Happy to be corrected though.

Good call. If you are a shorter hitter you need a great short game. Step forward Mr Donald ?

Dustin Johnson had a pretty good season. He's 6'4" weighs 190lbs and finished 4th on the money list. He earned $4.5 million plus $1 million bonus for the Fedex. His ave drive was 308 yards.

Luuuuuke is 5'9" weighs 160lbs. His ave drive is 277 yards. He only earned $3.7 million plus $2 million extra from the Fedex.

That proves it - You have to be huge and hit it miles to succeed.

Hang on.

Kuchar is 6'4" weighs 195lbs and only hits it 287 yards, and

Furyk is 6'2 wighs 185 and hits it 276 yards.

They both did ok on the money list

Luke must be having sleepless nights, he's so short off the tee.
