Lowest handicapper without an eagle?

Good question! It depends a lot on the home course I think. There are plenty with no par 5's which must lengthen the odds a lot especially if there's no drivable par 4's. Sure there must be a few Cat 1's around who play somewhere like this and don't go away much.

As for me, it got me thinking and I've had well into double figures at 7 different courses (that I can remember).

Never had one (off 11/12). Nearest I came was on my first round of three required for my handicap. Nailed a 6i to within 2" of the first hole.

I had two in one round about 5 years ago when I played off 9. Single handedly fought off two 5 hcppers as my partner was having a complete mare. One of our opponents was absolutely raging after the round with all sorts of mutterings about 9 hcppers not being able to make two eagles in one season let alone one round. They were both pretty jarring to be fair - 4th hole - same guy had just holed out from 30 feet for his eagle, I rolled my 20 footer in for a nett albatross... 17th they were both inside 3 feet for birdies. I nailed a stupid long borrowing putt to go dormie 1 ahead...then they both bogeyed the last chasing birdies. It was good fun :D

I've had plenty, ranging from three holes in one, a couple of holed mid irons on par 4's and conventional ones on par 5's.

I have a mate who plays off 9 who has never had an eagle but strangely has had an albatross. He holed a 5 wood second at one of our par 5's a few years ago. I was playing with him that day and because it was misty none of us saw the ball finish. It was only after we'd looked everywhere else that I suggested he looked in the hole and there it was!

I've had a fair few Eagles in my time, more holed out 2nd shots to par 4's then eagle putts on par 5's. I've had 2 eagles in consecutive holes, pitched in on a par 5 then holed 9i 2nd to a par 4 and I think I was close to a hole in one on the next. Never had a hole in one altho ive been very close.

I think longer hitters will have much more chance of making eagles. Going for par 5's in 2 regularly and going for short drivable par 4's bring more reward but obviously risk. Short hitting good players may not make eagles, but they will rarely make doubles.

We have one par 5 which is always in range in 2 when its down wind and I hit it quite often, but it has a horrible tierd green which can bite if you too far above or below the hole. I have never eagled it. I have seen plenty who have though.

I've kinda had one...

T'was a texas scramble, our 7th hole which is a 520 yard par 5. My drive got selected, then my 4w ended up on the green, then I holed the putt. Dunno if that'd count though :)

Off of 22 btw ;)

Good enough for me

My Brother in Law has never had one. He fluctuates between 6 and 7 at the minute and is quite a long hitter. He seems to have an amazing ability to miss eagle putts, he also has never chipped in in a competition round. 2 things that drive him nuts haha:D

Both my Eagles have come from driving greens and being close to holes in one for both. The only par 5 at my course is short but never Eagled it. This year...

Ooh wonder who is the highest handicap with an eagle? I can just edge you SB two eagles to my name and off 23...

I also wear a mask and ride a horse ;)

I've had more than I can remember but if there was a thread for the worse eagle attempt fail then I surely would be the winner.

Playing at Mar Hall and I was on the first in two shots with a drive and 3 wood. Walked off with a 4 putt bogey:mad:

I'll enter the weirdest eagle attempt fail :)

On our 17th with 16 rubbish holes behind me, my drive left me too far out for my 4 wood.
Because my round was cooked I went for it with driver again and nailed it to about 12'.

I then thought it would be 'cool' to make eagle with 3 drivers so I putted with it as well.

I missed but made birdie with driver driver driver driver :D

Always thought you were a bit of a flash git.

Ah - like me FD - but have you been playing for longer than my 43yrs without a HiO :)

There is always a "smart Alec".

Started playing in 1970, joined Oundle GC in 1971 but still waiting for my first Hole In One. Been very, very close on a number of occasions but still waiting.

Perhaps you and I should start a club; "40 plus years and still No Hole In One."

Had eagles on par fours and fives though.

I could join that club.:(
