low h/c playing high h/c

I'm a 17 h/c & Ive never played against any golfer with less than 14 h/c yet

but i am looking forward to playing in a competitive round of golf with a low h/c

if the high h/c golfers looks forward to playing the low h/c ,,,,how do the low h/c feel about playing against the high h/c

I'm hoping i see both sides of the coin in the near future

I'm only asking because when i play against a worse golfer than me i tend not to concentrate as much but then i haven't played many competitions

from this week I'm going to enter all the medal comps at my club

A couple of years ago i was off 14 and the couple of guys i reg played with were both off 20 something and i was stuck on 14 while i played with them.I then started getting games witha couple of single fig golfers and that really helped me and withing a few months i was down to single fig as well.

I prefer to play with lower guys, though they may not prefer it the other way around

Concentrate on your own game a shot at a time.

Partners handicaps shouldn't be any concern to your game.

Just enjoy the games and craic.

Golf is, by and large, a solitary game so you need to concentrate on YOUR game. I've played with pros, low h/c and high h/c and each time I had no interest in how they played, only in how I played. They will be thinking exactly the same.

Doesn't bother me who I play with.

Playing against in match play is different. When playing a match I would prefer to play against a lower handicap simply because they are usually more consistent and so I know that if I played well then I could beat them. Hardest thing is coming up against a high handicapper and playing well, as usually they can play much much better. Got beat last year by someone playing to around 8 under their handicap, I only played great to around 4 under mine for the 16 holes we played

It's just much easier for a high handicapper to knock 8 shots off, than it is for to knock 8 off mine,

It doesn't bother me what handicap an opponent is off. Its about what I do, not them. I know my 'A' game will put pressure on anyone. Also, their handicap has been determined under the same system as mine, and as such makes it fair and competitive.

And if at the end of the day they beat me, well done to them.

Rule #1 in golf is never look for a higher handicapper's ball.

Ask yourself this - why does a 28 handicapper loose so many balls???? :whoo:

I'll play with anyone and quite happy to join in a ball search providing we aren't holding the group behind up. I always feel and hope that if I have the courtesy to help them if and when I'm looking they'll come over and give me a hand too. I have to be honest and say I've an uncanny knack of dragging lower handicappers down to my level (perhaps its a gift) so I can't answe how they feel (Hawkeye?) but I try not to get intimidated against a better golfer and particularly a longer hiiter and worry about my own game. Its the only thing I can influence
