Looking to join a course in York...

I've been offered a free round at Pike Hills with a view to taking up secondary membership there.

Does anyone have any good or bad views on this course?

one of the ones I have yet to play, hear mixed views bit compact is the major one. a free round cant be knocked when I enquired about joining they had a waiting list.

one thing is with the entrance on the A64 dual carriageway you cant only get access on the eastbound side coming from tadcaster/leeds although there is a junction 1/2 mile past to spin around at if you do come from scarboro direction

Joining Pike Hills this week. It's ideally located for playing and practicing after work and at £225 for the rest of the year, it's a good price.

Back auditioning courses after not loving Pike Hills last year. Sandburn looks good, as does Scarthingwell from the websites.

Scarthingwell is a tidy little club. It is on the other side of York though and in summer you will be fighting all the AOP's on the way to the coast and the tourists yomping around town.

Really friendly whenever I have played there. Some really good holes. The front 9 is tighter than the back 9. Par 3's are all very nice which definitely adds to the appeal.

Have fun

I've moved to a much more accessible place for the A64 and I'd actually be going in the opposite direction to the Scarborough day-trippers so shouldn't be an issue. I just need to get out to play both courses and decide, basically!

I didn't particularly enjoy Sandburn typical new course from the 90's I would say basically open fairly flat farming land turned into a golf course and not a good location along the singe carriageway stretch of A64 but again depends on which way you go a bit.
