We had our Christmas stableford this morning and in true fashion after 3 frost-free days the temperature plummeted overnight and the course was frozen so we were on temps. With a handicap cut out of the question my thoughts turned to winning for a bit of spending money in the pro shop and qualification for next years masters. I played well, shot a gross 75 for 41 points but that was only good enough for second place.

So no cut, no win, no masters qualification and I'm not even sure if 2nd gets me any pro shop vouchers - ho hum.

To top it off Fulham put in another useless away performance and lost at Swansea.

There's always next week.

Know the feeling! We had our pro's 13 hole stableford and I had 25 points and left so many out there it's untrue ( including a 1 foot uphill putt and 2 blobs!). Come home with a face like a chewed up, spat out toffee. I then found out 30 points won and I feel even worse. I know your pain! But just got to think about the good and put the bad shots to bed and forget about them!

And your partner showed definite signs of improvement in time for our match next week.

Mmmm? what signs of improvement were they then Homer? I didn't think you did too well today mate. (lol)
As they were on temp greens and there would be no handicap adjustment I ignored the thought of trying to win pro shop vouchers and tried to use all the clubs I'm struggling with (rescues, 5 wood, 3 wood). Needless to say I had a pretty dismal round with two blobs and 35 points and css was only 69 (estimated) for the day.
If I can get up in time for the 'claw' tomorrow, I will try to get a better score using my 'safe' clubs.
Having said that, well done Hawkeye. Top score. would have got nowhere near that

Thing was Bash I was just going thorugh the motions once I knew it was temp greens. I had one swing thought in my head and just tried to execute that on the drives and longer shots. Other than that I was mucking about trying to hit little half shots, chip and runs and generally using it as a practice. The score was irrelevant as the handicap was safe regardless

Yes, but if Fulham had played for 90 minutes like the way they played after going a goal down, they would have got at least a draw against us.

Same old Fulham away from home. We just don't seem to realise how good we are until we are behind. Once you lot scored there was only one team in it but what we don't do and haven't for years is score goals

I'm always gutted when i score 41 points and can,t see any positives either. It must be like winning the lottery but only second place. £250.000 rather than £2.5 million - some people!

But you never enjoyed "the good old days" in the old 4th division going up to Hartlepool on a wet Tuesday night to see the likes of Gary Brazil play like a prize donkey and lose 4-0 standing on an uncovered terrace.

You all seem to be missing the point of the post, maybe I didn't make it very well. I'm happy how I played but normally when I play like that I get a cut, in the absence of a cut I'd hoped for a win but got nothing, nada and that's the frustrating part.
