• Thank you all very much for sharing your time with us in 2025. We hope you all have a safe and happy 2026!

looking back over 2011 (a couple of questions)

Really enjoyed playing some beautiful new courses this year. Blackmoor, Camberley, Bearwood and Thetford and putting faces and swings to names.
Sadly, Jan (Teegirl) moved on after being my best friend for 6 years and got herself a new beau (off 3) so a mixed year.

Well the year of my most wonderful life changing, did I say wonderful little girl.

Best round of 85 made me very very happy.

Mid season I totally lost it and could not see the wood for the trees, it made me very sad after all the effort I put it, I have clawed it back to some extent and although I am playing very little I am enjoying what I am playing.

Oh I guess I should be pretty happy about making the cut in summer champs too!!! Lots of better golfers did not.

Good: Joining a golf club, starting to play propper golf instead of the 5-6 social games a year

Bad: Tinkering with my swing having lots of lessons etc, no doubt a technically better swing,
but no real improvements in distance accuaracy or consistency

High's -
Finally figuring out that I can actually strike a golf ball well, despite not managing it in comp yet.
Playing at St Andrews, even if it was on the New course.
Watching my 11 year old son develop a very nice looking swing and get drafted into the county under 12's for next year.
PB of 86 round my track.

Low's -
Early in the year when I couldn't hit a straight ball for toffee and thought about jacking it in (golf that is).
Most definitely the departure of Seve, was just thinking about him on the drive to work this morning.

Highs - too few to mention really. I've had a horrible year on the course, primarily because I have been getting in so much trouble off the tee. It seems to be on the mend at long last, though, as I've just hit my third sub-80 round of the last fortnight, all off the whites. Today's knock was my best since July last year.

Lows - where to start...........

Best moment was winning the quarterly medal with a net 61 (par 71) :D

Lowest moment? It's been a good year so far but maybe getting beaten by 2 good friends on the last hole

positives -
Won Yorkshire Trilby Tour
Won club matchplay
won a medal, the par 3 comp and most importantly massacred the lads on our golf trips :)
Handicap down from 20 to 16 (15.6 argh!)

Saddest - Seve, and it was birthday too. A very sad day.

2012 - bring it on....

Best: completing 54 holes in one day in September and raising £1700 for Cancer Research with three mates.

Worst: getting beat in the second round of the matchplay championship on my home course playing with our club champion against 2 lads that had never played the course
And Obviously Losing a legend in Seve.

Non golf related:
Best : birth of our second little boy 9 weeks ago. And 10 days later being awarded the best in the Uk at what we do at our industry awards.
Worst : Ain't been too bad really.(touchwood)

Highs for me, firstly and most importantly, getting my health back on track, still some way to go but looking good!

Leading my division in the Order of Merit this year.

Enjoying the meets at Blackmoor and Cooden.

Talking of Blackmoor, a thrill for me - was the drive home in Snellys super duper beemer. It was so fast that I didn't know whether the rear seat passenger - Snaphookwedge, was either asleep or so frightened he couldn't talk! :p:p:D

I did feel safe though Snelly :)

Oh, and lows, I don't really have any, every day is a bonus!

Golfmmad. :D
