Look what's turned up............Too beautiful to use?

Cheers for the comments guys. If these play as I think they will, then they'll be in the bag for a long time.. I'm still considering headcovers though, and that makes me a little bit sad....:D

That's like buying an Aston Martin and driving with a dustsheet over it:eek: If you have them, flaunt them:cool:

You are exactly right mate, but it's like a compulsion to keep them pristine. I suppose most people are like that with their new shinies...

Did you try Nike Vr Pro Combo irons?

No mate, not because of any anti Nike sentiment. It was more because I wanted something new, not something a couple of years old. It's a bit shallow I know. The Nikes do look very very pretty though..

Are you going for custom fitted iron covers Dan? ;)

Obviously, so that they fit nice and snug. Take the dulux colour chart with you as well, they can make them in whatever colour you want.

It's the way forward.

Custom fitted headcovers is the only way to reduce your handicap mate. Thats why I've been stuck on 11/12 for so long...No headcovers... I'm thinking of having them fitted using Trackman. That way I can assess the spin rates and launch angles of the headcovers when I throw them back at the bag...

With all the love for these(never seen an iron get so much love on this forum) I have gone back to the photos about 10 times thinking I had missed something... What I saw the first time and I still see is the shape of the Mizuno MP 58, a beautiful club (now I do not want to be rude about your new toys but...) they took that beautiful shape and covered it in muck... does the Cobra have to be so large and bold? Do they need to write so much stuff on it.. its not a book! and why does it look like when they stamped "Pro" on it that the metal was half dry and dragged in the surrounding metal. Sorry, way to over the top for me, makes TM look subtle. I think they are the ugliest better player irons I have ever seen... eeeekkkk sorry, seems pretty rude and its not meant to be :o

No worries mate, just curious how they compared. Let us know how you get on with them:thup:

Think we got that you don't like them in your 1st post:whistle:

Very nice. To me though they just look like a set of irons. They all look pretty much the same to me.

I don't quite get everyone's love for club aesthetics to be honest but whatever floats you boat I suppose...! :)

After ordering these a couple of weeks ago, they've turned up today. I'm playing tomorrow (weather permitting). Should I use them? Or should I wait for better weather? :D:D:D

Cobra Amp Cell Pro Irons, DG S300 shafts, standard length, lie & loft (Mr Average). Multi Compound black/white grips. It would take a lot to move the 32's out of the bag, but these are the best looking irons on the market right now IMO.

Use them... If I ever listened to my mother, she would not let me take the plastic off the clubs - to prevent any dirt getting into the groove. I think her immaculate sofa still has the covers on it from 1970..

I too don't see what all the fuss is about with regards to the looks! The important thing with me is how they perform! And with these I've gone from hoping to hit a shot cleanly to hoping to get it within 3 feet to the pin! They're just filling me with confidence with every round!
I say to those that are judging on looks alone to give them a try first then make your opinion

No, you've gone too far now. It'll only play on your mind then, just throw them first then measure your success rate with an excel spreadsheet and a DMD.

Iron cover within 5 feet - 1 point

Iron cover within 2 feet - 3 points

Iron cover falls down into the bag - 5 points.

Keep me informed. Will you be using Mizuno iron covers as a placebo effect in conjunction? If not your expirement methodology is flawed.:whoo:

Anyway, they're so yesterday now, I would keep the covers on when playing with them, they're that ugly.

Wow, they really get up your nose don't they?:D

I compared them to a friends 64's today and found them quite similar, maybe more like the 59's but a touch smaller in the head. Once I got used to them, they were very effective. Slightly lower flight than the 32's but with no distance loss at all. They sound a bit clicky when compared to the same shot with the 64's. With regards to the "shineyness" of them, they're actually a bit more of a satin finish and definitely not as shiny as the 64's.

Now then, you can tell from the above that i'm a bit of a Mizzy fan. These, in my opinion, are the equal of anything Mizuno currently has on the market. I would recommend that anyone who is in the market for a new set of "players" irons should at least give them a try.

Ye it was totally about looks though so total vanity. I was shocked that it was such a positive response from all different characters on the forum. As I said I did go back and look at the photo like 10 times though to check on myself... You know what, I think if they had just engraved the COBRA on the back rather than painted it in black it would totally change the balance for me.

Bet your going to love them though and that's all that matters. You ok with red for the head covers? :o:lol:

im going to have to give the red a miss mate. Not really my thing!!

maybe my picture isn't the best. Take a look next time you see them in stock. You may just be surprised at how pretty they are in the flesh.

Don't do it mate, iron head covers are on par with White socks & sandals combo, bum bags & those attachments that clip onto regular glasses to make them sunnies. :o
